It’s time to get real

As record numbers tune in to ITV’S Love Island, many female viewers will be enviously wrestling with one thought, “How on EARTH do those women get those bodies?” The truth, according to last year’s contestant­s, is with drastic dieting, few treats and hours of exercise. As Montana Brown tells us on page 14, “No one looks like the girls on Love Island naturally. People who are watching the show should remember those bodies aren’t normal.” Wise and comforting words for anyone comparing themselves unfavourab­ly. As singer and mum-of-three Sam Bailey tells us on page 58, accepting her curves has brought her happiness. She says, “You have to love the skin you’re in.” And she’s right. Real women in the real world with real responsibi­lities shouldn’t compare themselves with reality stars who, ironically, have the most unrealisti­c lives of all…
