Sisters are doing it for themselves
Starring some of the biggest names from stage and screen, this all-female Ocean’s has ‘summer hit’ written all over it
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, D right? Which is why it’s no surprise that the motley crew of robbers in this summer’s must-see heist flick, Ocean’s 8 – with their sights set on a diamond necklace worth a whopping $150m – are all women.
And not just any women. The characters in this slick new instalment of the Ocean’s franchise are played by some of the world’s biggest stars.
Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) is the sister of Danny Ocean (George Clooney), and aims to outdo her light-fingered brother by pulling off the heist of the century at New York City’s star-studded annual Met Gala.
But she can’t do it alone, so she puts together a team of brilliant crooks, starting with her best friend Lou (Cate Blanchett). Anna Hathaway plays glamorous actress Daphne Kluger, who is the mobsters’ target. And there are starring roles for Rihanna and Helena Bonham Carter among others. There are also a raft of cameos from Anna Wintour, Kim Kardashian, Serena Williams, Kylie Jenner and a whole lot more. Go see.
