WHEN CLOSER MET ‘STRINGY’

Closer’s news editor Rebecca Twomey, says, “Peter – who was known to pals as ‘Stringy’ – was charming, charismatic and chivalrous. We last interviewed him at his club in March last year. Ever the businessman, he was launching a lingerie line and made every effort to speak to his guests, taking a real interest and asking lots of questions about us. When we asked about the nitty gritty of running a strip club, he took us on a private tour. He was nothing like the ‘seedy’ stereotype many would imagine. He generously gifted us all a lingerie set, as well as inviting us for a hosted dinner. Despite his millions, he told us he preferred to take the train into London and use his senior citizen railcard to Peter treated save on fares. He also only took the Closer black cabs in London – not Uber team – because he wanted to support cabbies. But what struck us most was how lovingly he spoke about his wife and how he lit up talking about his children. He’ll be terribly missed.”
