‘I work out more in my 40s’

Supermodel Heidi has previously boasted that she never diets, saying, “People think in order to look fit you can’t eat anything. I eat a lot, I just eat the right things.” But Heidi – who is mum to Leni, 14, Henry, 13, Johan, 12, and Lou, nine – concedes she’s had to increase the amount of exercise she does to keep her figure trim. She says, “Your metabolism definitely changes when you turn 40. If I indulge more, I have to exercise more. I’ve figured out what works for me.”

‘Dinner is my treat meal’

Actress and lifestyle guru Gwyneth skips breakfast, has salad for lunch, and eats “whatever I want” for dinner – although she admits she follows a strict vegan diet with no processed foods, sugar, alcohol, dairy or caffeine. But while she used to work out for two hours a day, Gwyneth – who has daughter Apple, 14, and son Moses, 12 – insists she’s scaled it back, saying, “I’m getting old! Sometimes the gym gives me a rush of energy, but then my body is like, ‘F*** you!’”

‘I eat to control my diabetes’

Actress Halle follows the high-fat, lowcarb ketogenic diet to manage her Type 2 diabetes. The star credits the diet with slowing down the ageing process, and claims its other benefits include “weight loss, appetite control, more energy, better mental performance… and less acne.” Halle – mum to Nahla, 10, and Maceo, four – regularly posts tough workout videos with her personal trainer to Instagram, mixing up weights and cardio to leave her body “curvy but toned”.

‘I just walk everywhere!’

Sex And The City star Sarah admits, “I’m just someone who doesn’t gain weight… sometimes I’ve been too skinny, and that’s not so great either.” Sarah – who shares James, 15, and nine-year-old twins, Tabitha and Marion, with husband Matthew Broderick, 56 – used to work out with celebrity trainer Anna Kaiser. But now, she says, “I just walk everywhere, and have four flights of steps in my house, and I love swimming and kayaking. I’m just always moving.”

‘I’ve cut out wheat & sugar’

Supermodel Elle is a self-confessed fitness fanatic, and a big fan of “winter skiing, running, cycling, swimming laps, walking the dogs – I just love to be outdoors”. The mum-of-two, who has sons Arpad, 20, and Aurelius, 15, also opts for an organic, plant-based diet, cutting out meat, dairy and processed foods. She previously revealed, “I’m not a ‘binge and purge’ person. It’s really important to maintain wellness yearround… although, before summer, I cut out wheat and sugar.”

‘I’m on the rainbow diet’

Former model Christie, 63, says it’s important to stay active, warning, “Once you’re over 50, don’t stop moving because you’ll rust.” The model goes spinning and to weights class, but also swears by dancing and walking. Mother to Alexa Ray, 32, Jack, 22, and Sailor, 19, Christie credits a vegetarian diet for staying youthful, explaining, “I’ve always fed my children and myself a rainbow of colour a day. But the big thing that always gets me is mozzarella cheese. Life is too short.”
