Why can’t Jordan survive without a man… like Kerry?
With five children and three broken marriages each behind them, Jordan and Kerry Katona’s lives have virtually mirrored one another. And last week was no exception when the pals were pictured topless on separate holidays. But while Jordan has continued to grab headlines with her wild partying and a rebound toyboy romance after her split from Kieran Hayler, Kerry has thrived since divorcing George Kay, focusing on her health and family. So how has Kerry managed to break her destructive cycle while Jordan seems doomed to repeat mistakes from her past? Closer investigates…
On the wake of I her marriage to third husband Kieran Hayler collapsing, Jordan wasted no time in moving on with her latest toyboy, Kris Boyson.
And she put on yet another awkward public display of affection last week when she was pictured provocatively straddling Kris, 29, in Thailand in nothing but her bikini bottoms.
The snaps surfaced just a week after Kieran was seen with his new girlfriend, air hostess Michelle Penticost, 36, amid claims Jordan, 40, wants to marry Kris to get back at her ex.
And after reports last week that Jordan – real name Katie Price – is heading for bankruptcy, following a difficult year in which her marriage fell apart and her mum Amy was diagnosed with a terminal lung condition, pals say the former glamour model sees Kris as her chance to boost her sex symbol image – and her ailing fortune.
A source says, “Katie has had to spend thousands on a series of legal battles. And with everything that’s been going on in her personal life, she hasn’t been focused on her finances or budgeting. She’s worried she’ll have an expensive divorce from Kieran, so is desperately trying to claw back some earnings.
SEX TAPE
“She’s devastated that Kieran has moved on so quickly and is going all-out to prove how happy she is with Kris. But she secretly sees him as her cash cow, and she’s acting like their romance will bring in big publicity deals, more reality shows and maybe even a sex tape to get back her sex symbol status and prove she’s still hot.” And pals say this is just the beginning. The source adds, “Katie is desperate to still be seen as a sex symbol and wants to make money quickly. She thinks a sex tape is the best way to get back at her exes.”
At the height of her fame in the ’90s, Jordan made a sex tape with thenboyfriend Dane Bowers, which was subsequently leaked. She later revealed, “Being a total exhibitionist, and being used to the camera, I was definitely more into the idea of filming it.”
The source says, “Now that Katie is a mum, she knows it’s risky to make another sex tape, but it might be her best option to boost her career and make money, as well as reclaim her status as a sex symbol.”
Relationship expert Ben Edwards believes that Jordan’s actions following the breakdown of her third failed marriage are down to her desperation and lack of self-worth. He says, “Katie is essentially dealing with this break-up by numbing her inner turmoil with short-term highs – the highs of going out, the highs of a new relationship, even the highs of flaunting her body in public. It appears to be bravado, but I suspect her self-worth is very low at this point. She is rich, famous and relies heavily on her appearance,
yet her husband chose to sleep with their nanny and her friends. She might be trying to prove she is still attractive by getting another boyfriend right away and posing for intimate pictures. For a woman who has made a career out of her looks, getting older will be devastating for her, too.”
And in an appearance on Loose Women last week, Kris shocked viewers when he said in front of Jordan, “When I met her… I said she looked too skinny – she looks ill and old.”
EXES JOINING FORCES
While the mum of five put on a racy display with Kris last week, her exes Kieran and Peter Andre were posting wholesome pictures of the children they share with the star. Pals recently told Closer how Jordan was worried about the growing friendship between her exes, and now they reveal she is suspicious Pete is coaching Kieran after she discovered the former stripper is following Pete’s manager, Claire Powell, on Instagram. Jordan had a lengthy legal battle with former manager Claire after accusing her of leaking details about her private life.
Last week, Jordan posted a quote on Instagram that read, “Here’s how I’m going to beat you. I’m going to outwork you. That’s it. That’s all there is to it.” She added, “I have three males in my life who are trying to mentally destroy me, drain me and who won’t let go, but I’m a survivor not a taker.”
The source says, “Everyone knows Katie is referring to her exes Pete, Alex and Kieran. She is always out for revenge and will never let a grudge go.” Earlier this year, Jordan was quizzed by police after her second husband, Alex Reid, accused her of playing a phone clip of him performing an act with a sex toy to a TV show audience.
Our source continues, “Katie is consumed by paranoia right now. She’s lashing out at loved ones out of pure frustration and spending hours instructing her PR team to do whatever it takes to paint her in a better light. She’s worried Pete and Kieran are teaming up to ruin her.”
Pete confirmed his amicable relationship with Kieran – who’s reportedly being lined up for this year’s I’m A Celeb! – earlier this year, saying, “I appreciate everything he’s done and obviously it’s good we get on.”
The source adds, “Pete has urged Kieran to sign with Claire as he assured him she could help turn him into a fitness star, which Kieran’s really excited about. If he manages to emulate Pete’s success and come out as the one on top, Katie will be devastated.”
Meanwhile, relationship expert Ben adds, “There’s no coincidence that history has repeated itself with her relationships. She seems to be taking her issues into each relationship, rather than confronting them. But if she keeps doing this, the same pattern will keep occurring. The only way Katie can change this destructive approach is for her to confront the issues, if she wants to have successful relationships and be happy.”
