Coleen agrees to give the US a trial run

As Coleen Rooney hints she’s moving to America to join husband Wayne, pals say it’ll be a fresh start

She gave the S biggest signal yet that she’s going to America, where husband Wayne now plays for Washington-based club DC United, revealing on Twitter last week that it was “a move we are going to do as a family.”

And reports claimed Coleen Rooney had “confirmed” she’d be relocating, with a friend reportedly saying, “Coleen and the kids could easily join him”, adding how she’s “really keen on a few years in the USA.”

Speaking in an interview last week, Wayne said, “I would not have come out [to America] if my family did not want to come out. They are my priority. It was important they came over with me.”

EXPERIMENT

But sources tell Closer that the move will initially be temporary and that Coleen, 32 – who shares sons Kai, eight, Klay, five, Kit, two, and four-month-old Cass with Wayne – is being openminded about the move.”

A source says, “Coleen and Wayne’s priority is always their boys and they don’t want anything to cause them unnecessary disruption, so they’re seeing America as a trial run over the holidays and will then make a decision. It’s an experiment to make sure everyone’s happy.”

Closer previously reported how Wayne would split his time between the US and UK, while Coleen – who last week praised Wayne on Twitter for his footballing achievements in the UK – continued to oversee renovations of their mansion in Cheshire. But now the former Manchester United and England captain is said to be pulling out all the stops to wow his family with the American lifestyle.

The source says, “Wayne is really keen to make sure that Coleen and the boys love it out there. He’s hired a huge mansion with a pool, spa and gym in an upmarket area, and Coleen will have staff and a driver. He’s also invited her parents over to stay, to help everyone feel part of it.”

NERVOUS

The source adds, “Coleen’s never lived outside of the North West before and she’s a little nervous. But she’s told Wayne she’s very open-minded about the move.”

Their marriage has suffered its share of strain over the years – most recently after Wayne’s drink-driving shame last September with party girl Laura Simpson, who hinted that he’d kissed and hugged her. The incident saw Wayne banned from driving for two years and given 120 hours of community service.

However, Coleen later revealed that they were trying to “make it work” and pals say they’re both determined to make their marriage a success.

The source adds, “Wayne sees America as a new chapter for them. He’s really changed and is focused on his career as well as being a hands-on dad and attentive towards Coleen. They’ve had a lot of heart-tohearts and are feeling very positive about their future.”
