Coleen puts Wayne on a party ban

Pals say Coleen Rooney has laid down the law with her footballer husband following his move to America

She appeared S to confirm last month that she was ready to move Stateside with husband Wayne Rooney, after the footballer signed a £300,000-a-week contract with Washington-based club DC United.

But after insiders told Closer that Coleen Rooney and their four children, Kai, eight, Klay, five, Kit, two, and fivemonth-old Cass, would initially join Wayne on a trial basis, sources now say she’s drawn up a list of strict rules for him to follow when she’s not there – including a party ban.

Last week, Wayne, 32, scored his first goal for his new team during a match which also saw him left covered in blood after breaking his nose, and Coleen, 32, is said to be concerned that his intense playing on the pitch could lead to boozy nights out with his teammates to let off steam.

A source says, “Of course Coleen understands Wayne may want to relax and have a few drinks after the game, but she has drawn up some rules for him to follow now he’s in the US, and number one is making sure that he doesn’t have any wild parties with his new mates.

“She’s also suggested he puts a cap on the amount of drinks he’s allowed to have after a game, and wants him to check in with her over text or a call if he’s planning to celebrate, including a final check-in before he goes to sleep.

“It’s not that she doesn’t trust Wayne, it’s just that she knows there can be lots of highs and lows in football and she wants to make sure that he doesn’t go down the wrong path while she’s not there to keep a watchful eye on him. She’d also like to know the names of everyone that he’s making friends with so she can feel safer about what he’s up to.”

The couple have battled their share of ups and downs over the years, and their marriage came under a huge strain when it was reported in May last year that Wayne had lost £500,000 in just two hours during a solo late-night gambling spree at a casino in Manchester. Coleen was reportedly furious at the time, and it was rumoured that she was behind his decision to turn down a £100million deal to play in China as a result.

COMMITTED

Wayne was then caught drink-driving with party girl Laura Simpson in September, who claimed he had kissed her on their drunken night out together. Wayne was subsequently banned from the roads for two years and given 120 hours of community service, and Coleen later stepped out without her wedding ring.

In an emotional post on Facebook, she later revealed that she’d forgiven Wayne, calling him a “brilliant dad” despite the “silly and selfish mistakes” he had made. And pals say that the pair are now both fully committed to making their marriage work, providing that Wayne continues to prove that he’s a changed man.

The sources adds, “Coleen doesn’t want there to be any more gambling or bad behaviour. She knows there will always be that temptation there for him, but if she’s going

❛SHE WANTS TO MAKE SURE HE DOESN’T GO DOWN THE WRONG PATH WHILE SHE’S NOT THERE❜

to consider a permanent move to the US and uproot her boys, then she needs Wayne to settle down and follow her rules when she’s not around.

FRESH START

“Wayne is fully accepting of Coleen’s terms and wants to prove that all that stuff is in the past. He doesn’t want to lose her and making sure their marriage works out is his top priority. He really thinks being in Washington D.C. will be a good influence and a chance to wipe the slate clean. He wants a fresh start with Coleen and the boys.

“He is loving playing with his new team so far, and he’s desperate to get them out there with him as soon as possible. He sees this as their new chapter and he’s willing to do anything to make it go smoothly and keep Coleen happy.”
