Louise Thompson: “I’m waiting for Ryan to propose”

The Made In Chelsea star and fitness guru opens up about wedding fever and swapping wild nights for gardening

- By Sofia Zagzoule Her book Live Well With Louise is out now

he appeared to scoff at the S idea of her former love-rat boyfriend and Made In Chelsea co-star Spencer Matthews settling down with pregnant partner Vogue Williams – insisting recently, “I’m bloody glad I dodged that bullet!”

But after seeing Spencer, 28 – who was famed for his numerous infidelities and even once slept with a woman in her bed – walk down the aisle last month, it seems like Louise Thompson has got wedding bells on the brain, too.

The 28-year-old reality star – who has been loved-up with personal trainer boyfriend Ryan Libbey since August 2016 – says, “Ryan and I talk about marriage all the time, but it’s not really my choice as to when we get engaged. People ask me, ‘When are you getting married?’ all the time and I say, ‘Ask Ryan!’ Planning a wedding seems like the most stressful thing ever. I don’t know whether it’ll be good to just have fun and concentrate on work stuff. We’ll see!”

PARTY LIFESTYLE

Aside from her heartache over Spencer on MIC, Louise also became famed on the show for her party-girl ways. She’s admitted to losing over 30 phones, five handbags and having her car towed 25 times during her wildest days – but she insists she’s now swapped her party lifestyle for quiet dinner parties and gardening.

She says, “My life is so different now. I do go out now and again and have a gin and tonic, but I don’t go crazy like I used to. Now I throw big dinner parties; there’s always a lot of focus on food! We’ve got an allotment, actually, and it’s quite fun. I don’t know whether it will be one of those impulsive things, though – I’m already a bit bored of being green-fingered, but when it rains I’m thrilled because it waters the plants. I do feel so much more wholesome nowadays, but maybe the allotment was taking it to the extreme.”

Opening up about her role on MIC – which she joined in 2011 at just 21 years old – Louise admits the instant fame soon saw her life spiral. And when she was accused of cheating on boyfriend Alik Alfus to be with current partner Ryan in 2016, she faced an onslaught of cruel Tweets – and even death threats. She adds “I used to get floods of Tweets in the early days of MIC, saying horrible things. I’ve even had death threats. Someone once threatened me with a picture of a knife, which was really dark.”

BODY OVERHAUL

Louise now insists she’s happier than ever after ditching the wild partying for health and fitness, and reveals she’s taking a break from the Chelsea reality show to enjoy a summer with friends and family. She admits, “I’m not filming this summer because I feel like I’ve missed out these last five years. I want to go to festivals and sit by a pool with actual friends who are separate from the show – just live a regular life for a bit.”

Louise has transformed her figure with the help of boyfriend Ryan in recent years, sculpting her size 6 body and achieving rock -hard abs. Her new healthy lifestyle has seen her gain 1.1 million followers on Instagram.

The star – who has previously admitted to battling depression – now credits exercise for not only helping her stay trim, but also keeping her mood levels high.

“I think everyone suffers from anxiety at some point,” she says. “One of the best steps is exercise and I now treat my body with respect by eating well and not poisoning it. For me, I have to be stricter. We did treat ourselves to a pizza the other day, but we felt awful and didn’t really enjoy it. When I eat something junky, I look back to my past and think, ‘I don’t want to be the person I used to be.’”
