CELEBS ON THE PRESSURE TO HAVE CHILDREN

-

Model Kelly Brook, 38, last week opened up on Loose Women and confessed that she related to Jennifer Aniston’s claim that there’s pressure on women to be mothers. She said, “People always ask me, because my biological clock is ticking and I’m approaching 40, ‘When are you going to have children?’. I’ve tried to have children – I haven’t been lucky, and I’ve had several miscarriages. People feel the need to ask – they don’t think it could be a medical reason why you’re not having children. I never have the right answer, because I never really want to go into it – it’s no one’s business.”

Actress Lisa Riley, 42, recently revealed how she’d turned to IVF in a bid to have a baby, after years of believing she didn’t want to be a mum. Speaking about the responses she’s received for that choice, she said, “I will forever be the person who’s never had a child, but I’m OK with that, and it’s OK for anybody to feel like that. It’s not like women were put on this earth just to make babies.”

Kim Cattrall’s long hours working on Sex And The City meant that she felt she couldn’t balance having babies with her career. On the stigma surrounding “childless” women, she said, “It sounds like you’re less because you haven’t had a child. There are many different ways to be a mum. Just because you don’t have children doesn’t mean you don’t have a maternal instinct.”

Two years after her split from actor husband Laurence Fox, Billie Piper is loved-up and happy once again, following news last week that she is expecting a baby with boyfriend Johnny Lloyd.

The former Doctor Who actress is already mum to sons Winston, nine, and Eugene, six, from her sevenyear marriage to Fox – and was previously married to Chris Evans for six years, before their split in 2007.

Billie began dating Johnny – formerly frontman of rock group Tribes – in 2016 and the couple have made several public appearances together, including the BAFTAS and the Olivier Awards.

In February the actress revealed she’d love to have more children, saying, “In my dream world I’d have loads. I was one of four, and it’s taxing for both parents and kids, but I do like the idea of chaos.”
