BRANGE’S MILLION-DOLLAR CLASH OVER CHILD SUPPORT
Their messy divorce took another blow last week, after Angelina Jolie complained that Brad Pitt hasn’t paid child support since the couple’s separation two years ago – despite his claims that he has paid her millions.
The former couple – who are parents to Maddox, 17, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 10 – have been embroiled in a bitter custody battle since their split in September 2016, with accusations at the time that a heated argument between Brad and Maddox had prompted Angelina, 43, to end their marriage. And last week, Angelina’s lawyer claimed that Brad, 54, has “paid no meaningful child support since separation”.
Proving that relations have really soured between the A-list pair – who in January last year had agreed to “act as a united front” – Brad’s lawyer hit back at Angelina’s claims, saying that the child support payment claims were a “thinlyveiled effort to manipulate media coverage” and that he has paid more than £1m in costs and loaned Angelina £6.2m to help her buy a house.
Angelina’s lawyer retorted, “What has been filed… is a blatant attempt to obfuscate the truth and distract from the fact that he has not fully met his legal obligations to support the children.”
Angelina, who is believed to be worth £125m, is now asking the court to force Brad – whose reported fortune stands at £185m – to pay up.
