The UK National Diet & Nutrition Survey shows that a lot of 20 and 30-somethings fall short of 12 micronutri­ents, and levels for seven are so low they “pose a threat” to health. To make sure you’re getting them all, eat dairy products and eggs, brightly coloured fruit and veg (oranges, reds and dark greens), fortified cereals, whole grains (like brown rice), pulses (like chickpeas and beans), nuts, meat and fish. For vegans, tofu and soy provide lots of nutrients, but you may need B12, iron and iodine supplement­s.
