‘I’m worried I’ll lose every thing again’

Kerry Katona is feeling the strain after admitting that her latest financial crisis could push her back into bankruptcy and rock her fledgling romance with Ryan Mahoney

- By Joel Cooper

She transformed S her life after ending her third marriage to ex George Kay in June 2017, throwing herself into health and fitness, and finding love with personal trainer Ryan Mahoney in July.

But sources say Kerry Katona’s new happiness could be shaken by the threat of a third bankruptcy.

Last week, the mum of five, 38, revealed that 15-year-old daughter Lilly-sue’s school bus service had been axed by council bosses, possibly meaning she’d need to fork out £200 a week in taxi bills. Opening up about her situation, Kerry said, “I’ll end up back in bankruptcy if that’s the case. I’m in panic.”

A source reveals, “Kerry works hard to provide for her family. She feels like she’s watching every penny as it is, and doesn’t know how she could afford to pay an extra £200 a week.

“She doesn’t want Lilly to

change school, and she always puts her kids’ happiness first. But she’s terrified of her financial situation becoming an issue again. There isn’t a public transport alternative for Lilly, so Kerry feels she has no choice.”

STRUGGLING

The star – who revealed on Instagram last week that she was “struggling mentally” and finding it hard to sleep – previously filed for bankruptcy in 2008, and again in 2013, only managing to work her way out of debt a year ago.

Earlier this year, Kerry – who struggles with bipolar disorder – explained, “I lost my money. I don’t have money now. I understand why people kill themselves. There were times, and there have been times of late, that I think, ‘I can’t cope with this. How am I going to pay their school dinner money?’”

The insider adds, “She’s been worrying herself sick about going back into bankruptcy. It’s affected her sleep and put her in a very anxious mood.”

It’s been a tough year for Kerry – who shares children Molly, 17, and Lilly-sue with Brian Mcfadden, Heidi, 11, and Max, ten, with Mark Croft, and Dylan-jorge, four, with ex-convict George. She dramatically left girlband Atomic Kitten during their UK tour following a rant about bandmate Natasha Hamilton, infamously dubbing her a “toxic c***” during a boozy PA.

The source says, “Kerry loved being back in Atomic Kitten. She was excited about all the shows and tours in the future, but that’s gone out the window since her falling out with Natasha. Now she’s unsure about her next big career move, and is beginning to feel worried for the future.”

And while insiders previously told Closer that Kerry saw marriage and kids with toyboy Ryan in her future, the star is apparently now worried her financial baggage could put a strain on their fledgling relationship.

FEELING STRAINED

The insider adds, “Ryan is very supportive and Kerry says she is the happiest she’s been in this relationship. But she would never want to lean on him financially, and she doesn’t want the early days of their romance to be tainted by the stress of her finances.

“She feels she’s found her Mr Right, she doesn’t want anything to ruin it.”
