As she prepares for the birth of her little boy next month, Josie Gibson opens up about her 4st weight gain and how she’s finally found peace in her life

“I’ve let myself go for my pregnancy & it feels great!”

She famously lost over 6st S in 2012, but since getting together with her partner Terry last year and falling pregnant, Josie Gibson admits that she’s regained a lot of the weight and is back to a size 18.

The 33-year-old star – who is 37 weeks pregnant with a baby boy – says, “I don’t feel the best, but I’m not overly worried about it, either. I’m a size 18 now and have been eating all the things I wouldn’t have dreamed of eating for years.”

Josie – who went from a size 20 to a size 8 when she originally lost weight following her success on Big Brother in 2010 – told Closer at the beginning of the summer that she’d gained 2st of “happy weight” after getting together with property developer Terry last summer. The reality star also revealed she’s put on a further 2st since finding out she was pregnant, but admits she’s put on more weight since then.

EATING HABITS

“I daren’t even weigh myself any more,” she laughs. “Since 2013, I’ve not eaten bread or dairy and I eat them all the time now. I’m in a relationship with someone who is not a healthy eater and l’ve been lazy – I’ve completely let go. But it has been lovely! I’ve been eating so much cake and so many crisps – I’m obsessed with crisps!”

But the Big Brother winner – who had 6lbs of excess fat removed from her stomach in 2016 – has vowed to get back into shape once the baby is here. “I had a flat stomach after my tummy tuck, but I have got the potential to be the sort of person who is lifted out of their house in a crane,” she laughs. “At the time, I remember wondering whether I’d be able to carry a child, but the surgeon assured me I’d be fine with pregnancy, as my skin is so elastic. I’m actually looking forward to getting back to exercise. I’ve signed up to a gym, which has a crèche for when the baby arrives.”

But Josie admits that, despite wanting to lose a few pounds after her son’s birth, she’s feeling great and that pregnancy has been a wonderful experience.

FEELING CONTENT

“I’ve had no sickness, I’ve just been tired, so the pregnancy has been amazing,” she says. “I also feel very content, it’s really weird – normally I’m never content, I’m always thinking, ‘I’ve got to do this now’, but for the first time in my life I feel like I don’t really want anything else. I’ve never been happier!”

But the pregnancy hasn’t been all plain sailing, and Josie’s been told it’s likely she will have the baby early as a recent scan showed he is smaller than he should be.

“The doctors have told me there’s a slight issue with the placenta, which means he isn’t growing as big as he should. The blood flow is fine, which is a relief, but they’ve said they might induce me early, so they can build up his strength quickly. We’re just hoping all will go well and we can get him to gain weight.”

But Josie and Terry, 48, have got everything ready for the baby’s arrival in case it is earlier than expected.
