Scarlett: “Everyone’s turned against me”

TV star Scarlett Moffatt has confessed to pals she’s struggling after constant criticism

- By Daisy Mclure

She first hit S our screens in Gogglebox before being catapulted to stardom in 2016, after winning I’m A Celeb!, then losing 3st and dropping six dress sizes for her successful fitness DVD Scarlett’s Superslim Me Plan.

But two years on, following the controversy that she allegedly went to a strict boot camp and ate just 600 calories a day to achieve her weight loss, Scarlett Moffatt has confessed to pals that she feels the public has turned against her again.

Just last week the star was forced to pull out of the Great North Run after raising just £150 of her £5,000 target. The 28 year old faced cruel trolling following the news, with angry fans branding her “fake”, “lazy”, and “selfish” for pulling out, with one posting on Twitter, “Not only did you fail to reach your target, but you pulled out the race which shows you had no interest in raising the money or even running”.

NEGATIVE COMMENTS

A source reveals, “Scarlett has been feeling so downcast since dropping out of the run and once again reading all these negative comments. It feels as though everyone is turning against her and willing her to fail. She’s been tearful and feeling down, telling pals she feels she can’t do anything without facing a backlash.”

Scarlett has certainly had a difficult 2018 so far. In April, she feared her reputation could be destroyed when she was forced to deny that she was romantically involved with TV presenter Ant Mcpartlin, 42, just weeks after he announced he’d split from his wife of 11 years Lisa Armstrong, 41.

She was also reduced to tears in July after being cruelly targeted by trolls on social media who made fun of her weight gain following an appearance on Love Island: Aftersun. She said in response, “Feel like I can’t even film TV shows without hating the way that I look after, from constantly being attacked because of my size and my appearance.”

HEARTBROKEN

If that wasn’t hard enough, the same month she was left heartbroken when on/ off stripper boyfriend Lee Wilkinson – whom she first started dating in February – appeared to reconcile with his ex-girlfriend Sam Irving just weeks after they split.

Appearing to reflect on her recent troubles via Instagram last week, Scarlett posted an inspirational quote that included the line, “Smile through the tears and keep reminding yourself that everything happens for a reason.”

Our source adds, “Scarlett is doing her best to remain positive and pick herself up, but the abuse she gets is absolutely vile and it’s hard for her to cope. She feels like it’s been one thing after another. She wants to be strong, but it’s difficult when it feels as though everyone’s out to get her.”

❛SHE’S BEEN TEARFUL AND FEELING DOWN❜

WRITER SHONA SIBARY, 47, LIVES IN CHICHESTER WITH HER HUSBAND KEITH, 50, AND THEIR FOUR CHILDREN, FLO, 19, ANNIE, 17, MONTY, 15, AND DOLLY, NINE. SHE SAYS, “I’ve smacked all of my children. I don’t beat them, but a short, sharp slap to stop rude or dangerous behaviour sometimes is the answer.

“When Annie was small, she kept running around a swimming pool, despite me telling her not to. I was worried she’d slip and crack her head open. I told her that, but she ignored me. Eventually, I grabbed her, smacked her on the thigh and told her to stop. She did and the potential disaster was averted.

“It isn’t just when they’re small. I smacked Flo on the arm a few years ago, when she kept shouting ‘bitch’ in my face. I told her not to speak to me like that and gave her a smack. It brought her up short and she stopped.

“I was smacked by my father and it didn’t harm me, it made me respect him and realise he couldn’t be pushed past certain boundaries. My children know I adore them and they trust me, but they do know they can only go so far. Keith and I are in agreement, but he works away so is less likely to be involved in altercations than I am.

“A ban is pointless. Mums like me, where a smack is part of a loving relationship, will be criminalised. And we’ll have lost an effective method of making sure our children behave.”
