‘I wish I could play golf all day & sing all night’
I WAKE UP AT AROUND 7AM. My partner Danielle is a teacher and has to be in school for 8am, so once her alarm goes off, we’re both up. To kick-start the day, I’ll have a cup of coffee and three boiled eggs. I GO STRAIGHT TO THE GOLF COURSE near my home in Rochdale and play 18 holes with Willie Morgan, a former Manchester United footballer and friend. If I’m touring with my band Boyzlife, then I’ll play with my bandmate Keith Duffy [formerly of Boyzone]. We’re very competitive! I love golf. If I had it my way, I’d play golf all day and sing all night. I’LL THEN SPEND THE DAY EITHER IN THE STUDIO, doing interviews or getting on a plane somewhere to head to a gig. I’m also working on a solo album, which is really exciting. I don’t normally have lunch as I’m often too busy, and I like to save myself for dinner with Danielle. DANIELLE IS THE BEST COOK, WHICH IS LUCKY BECAUSE I’M SO BAD. So if we stay in, she’ll usually cook. Once a week, we’ll eat out after going to see Manchester United play, as we’re both season ticket holders. If we’re at home, we’ll watch Grey’s Anatomy or Suits before bed. IN THE PAST, I WOULD HAVE GONE TO BED AROUND MIDNIGHT, but because I have so much on with the album at the moment, I try to make sure I’m in bed by 10pm. The next few months are going to be tiring and I’m just going to have to try to grab sleep when I can.
