Cheryl prepares to expose split secrets

After months of silence, pals say Cheryl plans to detail the collapse of her relationship with Liam Payne

She announced s her split from Liam Payne in July, following months of speculation over mounting tension in their two-and-a-halfyear relationship.

And last week it was claimed that Cheryl was planning to spill the beans on their breakup, in her emotional comeback single Love Made Me Do.

The notoriously private singer may shock fans as she describes herself as a “sucker” who “falls in love” with “every f***er” in leaked lyrics from the explicit track.

And insiders say that, as the reality of single life sinks in, the star, 35, is adamant she won’t be painted as the villain in their relationship.

A source reveals, “Friends know she’s felt frustrated over how she’s often been portrayed as the ‘baddy’ in the wake of her split with him – and was even blamed by online trolls as the cause of their break-up.

MUSIC THERAPY

“While she usually remains tight-lipped on her personal life, Cheryl’s felt compelled to set the record straight. She’s told pals that producing music was a form of therapy for her during the split, and that writing tracks has helped her deal with a lot of the hurt and frustration.”

Cheryl was said to have ended her relationship with Liam, 25, after growing tired of him being away from home and missing out on time with their son Bear, 18 months, as he toured the world promoting his music.

Insiders also claimed she’d become frustrated by his “single man behaviour” after Liam was accused by fans of being overly flirtatious with singer Rita Ora – and that Cheryl had reportedly been irritated by his looselipped antics in interviews.

And while Liam talked openly of their “struggles”, Cheryl attempted to put on a brave face in public – only breaking her silence to hit out at “nasty” and “false” claims that her mother was to blame for their split.

But after Liam revealed in August that he was delaying his debut album to reflect the “major changes” in his life over the past few months, pals say Cheryl was even more keen to have her say and expose her feelings about Liam and the break up.

The source adds, “Friends know the end of her relationship was really painful, so it’s only natural she’d worry about what Liam might be planning to reveal about their private life. She’d never want to get into a public slanging match with him, but feels it’s only fair to address her anger and disappointment at the way things turned out. Cheryl wants to ensure everyone knows how hard she tried to make it work.”

ATTENTION SEEKING

Having kept a low profile after the birth of Bear last March, Cheryl ensured all eyes were on her last week when she attended the wedding of music boss Nigel Hall in a risqué sheer dress with feathered panels. But fans were quick to criticise the star for her choice of daring outfit – with one commenting, “Talk about attention seeking… that’s no friend,” while another wrote, “That is something you would wear on the red carpet to get attention. It is not appropriate for a wedding.”

Meanwhile, Liam was spotted at Milan Fashion Week – where Jess Moloney, with whom he was previously linked – walked the runway. Rap superstar Cardi B later posted a photo of the pair together, with the caption, “All we did was talk about our babies”.

And just days later, it was revealed Liam is in final talks to appear in a remake of Steven

Spielberg’s musical,

West Side Story.

Amid reports Cheryl is looking for a new home after moving out of the One Direction star’s mansion, pals say she’s keen to draw a line under their split.

The source adds, “Cheryl’s happy for Liam and wants him to be successful, but pals know it must hurt when she’s the one facing criticism. She wants to have her say, but ultimately co-parenting Bear amicably with Liam is her priority. She’s hoping that expressing any negative emotions through their songs will be a healing process and help them both move on.” ● Read our chat with Cheryl’s pal Nicola Roberts on p22
