Broken Jordan’s “not ready” to fight demons in rehab
After plunging to her lowest point, troubled Jordan seeks treatment – but friends have doubts she’s committed to seeing it through
She’s been on S a downward spiral since the collapse of her third marriage to Kieran Hayler in May, diving headfirst into romances with personal trainer Kris Boyson and millionaire Alex Adderson, as well as indulging in boozy nights and becoming embroiled in a cocaine scandal in Mallorca.
But last week, Jordan, 40 – real name Katie Price – appeared to finally face up to reality when she was pictured entering rehab clinic The Priory following an intervention by her family. She’ll be treated at the facility for 28 days, after being diagnosed with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). The mum of five is allowed to go home at night, but is banned from social media during her treatment.
ERRATIC BEHAVIOUR
Her mum Amy – who is battling a terminal lung condition – opened up about her daughter’s decline, insisting, “Katie has been her own worst enemy and behaved like an idiot at times, but she’s been tearing herself apart for years. I’m relieved Kate has admitted she needs help to cope, to recognise her shortcomings and erratic behaviour, and to learn to love herself – to find the person inside she really is.”
Amy continued, “All the men in her life have used Katie and never, ever leave her alone. And nearly all have been with her to raise their profile. Kieran almost destroyed Katie with his behaviour, and Alex [Reid] has been as bad as Pete [Andre], who likes to portray himself as perfect.”
Insiders later revealed how Peter was hurt by Amy’s comments, insisting to pals he’d only ever tried to help his ex-wife. Meanwhile, Kieran, 31, broke his silence on Jordan’s admission to The Priory, saying he was “sceptical” that her rehab stint was genuine. He said, “I hope it’s not a press stunt and I hope she is actually getting help… If it is true, then good luck to her, but if it’s not then I’ll be disappointed because I do believe that she needs some sort of help and guidance.”
And Jordan was hit by a backlash from fans, with one commenting, “This is a PR stunt”, while another said, “All lies. No way is she in rehab. She’s trying to stop the bankruptcy and paying out on another divorce.” Even Katie’s second husband, cage-fighter Alex, 43, took a swipe at her rehab stint – sharing a post on his Instagram that read, “Katy Price checking into the priory with PTSD. What a crock of c**p. Cocaine head and poor me syndrome. I can’t stand her. This is a farce. Awful woman.”
DESPERATELY WORRIED
However, Spice Girl Mel B reached out to Jordan last week – and opened up about her own struggle with PTSD – saying, “It’s a condition you have to acknowledge and I commend her [Jordan] for saying that out loud. It’s hard in the public eye.”
Meanwhile, sources say pals are relieved the former glamour model – who is also fighting bankruptcy – has sought help for her issues, but still fear she doesn’t understand the severity of her situation.
A source says, “Katie’s family have been desperately worried about her for months. They staged an intervention and told her it was a case of now or never to get help. She’s put herself in dangerous situations with her wild partying, and there have been times where her friends have worried she’ll end up badly hurt or even dead.
“But even though Katie agreed to get treatment to deal with her issues, everyone’s worried she’s just doing it to keep her loved ones happy. They still doubt whether she’s ready to face her issues head-on. She’s already been making jokes about having a ‘rehab party’ with friends she’s met there and doesn’t seem to be taking it seriously, which has raised concerns that it could all be a joke to her. Pals worry that if she doesn’t throw herself into this rehab, it won’t save her from things taking a drastic turn.”
Last month it was revealed that Jordan has been “banned” from Bunny and Jett’s school gates, after launching a verbal attack on Kieran’s new girlfriend, Michelle Pentecost. And her ex Kris also revealed the mum was left “gutted” in June when Junior and Princess moved in with their dad Peter amid concerns for her “out-of-control behaviour.”
The source says, “Everyone wants to believe that she’s 100% committed to getting better, and pals hope that if anything makes her see it through, it’ll be the influence of her kids and mum Amy. All she wants is to make her family and kids happy.”
