Pals say Cheryl is open to meeting someone new after Liam hints he’s drawing a line under their split
After her ex Liam A Payne admitted in August he’d reworked songs on his album following their shock June split, insiders claimed Cheryl was fired up and ready to tell her side of the story – with reports that her new album would expose secrets about their break-up. She was even set to perform a track seemingly aimed at the One Direction star on X Factor next month.
But insiders say Cheryl was thrown last week after Liam appeared to hint he no longer wanted to release the personal tracks – insisting, “I kind of feel like some of the songs I’m not ready to put out right now with the way I’m feeling. To be honest with you, life’s took a little bit of a different turn as of late, so I’m kind of going with that turn and being honest with my feelings and stuff.”
CONFUSING
A source reveals, “Cheryl’s been eager to maintain an amicable relationship with Liam, but her inner circle say she was also keen to put her side of the break-up across. Especially after Liam admitted he’d tweaked songs after their split. But his recent admission felt confusing because he seemed to be saying he was in a different stage of life and maybe not wanting to focus on the split any more. “Cheryl wanted to get things off her chest a bit with the lyrics on her new album, and she has found recording a therapeutic process. But with Liam hinting that he won’t be getting personal on his material, it’s blindsided Cheryl a bit. Critics are always ready to pore over everything she puts out and it wouldn’t be good for her if she ended up looking as if she was the one who couldn’t move on from everything that happened between them, while Liam seemed over it.” Since their split, Liam has been linked
to a string of other women – including Instagram star Maya Henry, talent agent Jess Moloney and model Cairo Dwek – who he was pictured kissing in August.
FLIRTATIOUS
But later that month, he was spotted with his arms wrapped around Rita Ora – who fans accused him of being overly flirtatious with during his relationship with Cheryl.
And insiders say Cheryl is also eager to find her happy ending and meet someone new.
The source reveals, “Liam has wasted no time since his split from Cheryl and it’s not been easy to watch him with other women. No one wants to see their ex with someone new. Plus, Liam’s comments about life taking a bit of a turn have convinced some pals he may have found somebody more serious. Cheryl’s inner circle have speculated that may be why he’s reluctant to release material about her and the split.
“Cheryl was really hurt by the collapse of the relationship because she wanted it to work and never expected to be a single mum. But she knows she has to look to the future. She feels frustrated because she thinks If Liam can move on so quickly, she should be able to as well. She’d love to meet someone and find love. Lots of friends are trying to set her up and she’s open to dating.”
And with her appearance on X Factor reportedly scheduled for next month, sources say Cheryl is also nervous about making such a bold return to the public eye – particularly after facing a wave of trolling since her split with Liam.

The source says, “Pals feel like Cheryl has lost a bit of her confidence since being out of the public eye. She hasn’t sung on stage in years so it’s only natural she’d be scared. She knows all eyes will be on her and everyone will be dissecting every element of her performance – particularly as the lyrics seem to be aimed at Liam. She knows how important her image is, which is one of the only things she can control. She’s prioritised her health and has been watching her diet and avoiding junk food – as well as seeing a personal trainer three times a week and doing yoga and Pilates.”
