Is bridezilla Gemma putting Arg under stress?

As Gemma Collins says she’s ready to head down the aisle with Arg, pals warn her to slow down… for his wellbeing

They’ve had T a tumultuous relationship since finally giving their romance a go last December, with break-ups, make-ups, lock-changing and vitriolic shouting matches.

But last week, Gemma Collins revealed she’s desperate for boyfriend James “Arg” Argent to pop the question after completing his most recent stint in rehab, insisting, “James needs to start thinking about proposing soon!”

Appearing to issue a stern ultimatum to the 30 year old, she added, “It doesn’t have to be in the next few months, but I won’t hang around forever.”

COMMITMENT

Now, insiders are warning Gemma, 37, not to push James into such a big commitment, insisting that his recovery must take priority.

A source says, “Gemma is hell-bent on marrying Arg – she’s said she’s not fussed about having a proposal right away, but she’s done a massive U-turn. She thinks the best time to do it is now. She says she’s ready to take the next step, and that marriage will strengthen their relationship, so they won’t be so on and off all the time. She thinks that by James putting a ring on her finger, it will finally silence any critics of their romance.”

Gemma recently opened up about her desire to wed Arg with multiple ceremonies on her reality spin-off show Diva España – insisting, “I’d like [a wedding] on Diva España now to be honest. It would have to be called ‘Gem And Arg: The Wedding Special.’

“We are actually going to have a couple of weddings. He wants to get married in Spain, but you’ve got to get married in England first. So, I’m probably going to have a few weddings!”

But Arg has endured a tough few years. He entered rehab in 2014 and 2017 for issues with alcohol and depression. Opening up about his mental health, he previously said, “Underneath everything, I was badly depressed. I was anxious and tired.”

He’s also seen his weight yo-yo over the years and, despite shedding 3st in early 2017, admitted by the end of the year that he had ballooned once again.

FRIENDS’ CONCERNS

The source adds, “Her pals are warning her to slow down and focus on building a stable relationship, rather than rushing into this fairy-tale ending. They know she loves Arg more than anything, and he’s so happy with Gemma, but they don’t think he needs the stress of planning a wedding or trying for a baby just yet. Arg has really struggled over the years and he’s already suffered a few set backs. He’s determined to change his life for good now, and pals think Gemma needs to be supporting him, not pushing for a proposal.”

Last month, Gemma revealed she would be taking part in Dancing On Ice in January 2019, and expressed her hope that the show would help her lose weight, saying, “The training is going to be intense, but I hear you really shape-up doing the show, so I might come out with the dream body after all.”

But friends are also urging the size 18-20 star – who has yo-yoed between a size 12 and a size 24 – to take things slowly after boasting last week, “I’m gonna lose about 6st”.

DREAM BODY

The source adds, “Gemma sees Dancing On Ice as the perfect way to finally secure the body of her dreams. She’d love to get back to a size 12 and prove all her critics wrong by wowing the judges with her moves. She’s told friends that when she puts her mind to something, she’s determined. But everyone is telling her to not get carried away. They tell her it’s not healthy to lose too much weight too quickly.”

the determination to have a baby with Arg. Opening up earlier this year, Gemma admitted, “I’ve made no secret of the fact I really want kids, and I don’t think we’ll wait too long before trying for a family.”

The source adds, “Gemma knows carrying a baby when she’s overweight is unhealthy, and has always said she’d slim down before getting pregnant. She knows friends and family don’t want her to rush things with Arg, but she can’t help but look to the future. She’d love a baby because she feels that would really solidify their romance. They’d finally be the perfect family unit she always dreamed of.”
