Sophie: “I thought I’d be married with kids by now”
The Geordie Shore star opens up about regrets over her party girl past, and her struggle with body confidence
She joined Geordie Shore S when she was just 21 years old, and made a return to the notoriously boozy show in 2016, following a brief break. But Sophie Kasaei, who split from her boyfriend of six years, Joel Corry, last November, admits to Closer that she never thought she would still be living life in the fast lane as she approaches her thirties.
“I’m 30 next year, and I always thought that I’d have kids, be married, and have my own home by then – but it couldn’t be more opposite,” she explains. “I’m living with my dad, and still going out and starring on Geordie Shore.”
Sophie, who has just begun dating stripper Jay Bigz, also reveals that finding The One has proven difficult, as her past has come back to haunt her.

“I’d been single for about a year, and it can be really hard, especially in our world,” she says. “Because a normal person could just go on a night out and meet someone, go on dates and whatnot, but if I go on a date, how do I explain to them about what I do for a living? ‘Oh, by the way, I’ve had sex on TV, I get drunk for a living.’ Lads are put off by that.”
And Sophie, 29, explains that while Joel, who works as a DJ, made appearances on the show while they were together, she would prefer to keep her new relationship out of the public eye.
“I don’t want to go home to someone who’s been doing the same thing as me,” she says. “I don’t wanna ask them, ‘How was your TV show today? What sponsors have you got today on Instagram?’ I don’t want that kind of competition!”
WEIGHT BATTLES
The outspoken star has endured a welldocumented battle with her yo-yoing weight over the years, but despite slimming down to a trim size 8 earlier this year, Sophie admits she will never be 100 per cent confident with her body. “I don’t think any girl is ever going to be happy with their body, no matter what,” she explains. “It’s a struggle, and it’s always going to be. But now, I just want to be healthy.”
