GEMMA’S CONFESSION: ‘I’m losing weight – but I like Arg bigger’

As The GC reveals she’s dropped a dress size while training for Dancing On Ice, sources say her relationship insecurities mean she wants boyfriend Arg to stay the way he is

She vowed S to throw herself into training for her upcoming stint on Dancing On Ice and said she looked forward to losing weight in the process. And last week, Gemma Collins revealed she’d dropped a dress size in just ten days – going from a size 20 to a size 18.

She said, “I’ve dropped a dress size already. Look, my clothes are falling off me. By Christmas I should have dropped four sizes, ready for my wedding dress. They are working me hard.”

And sources say the largerthan-life TOWIE star is over the moon at her weight loss, revealing, “Gemma is so happy to be seeing results. She’s loving her training and can’t wait to lose more weight and prove her doubters wrong.”

‘BEACHED WHALE’

But while Gemma’s slimming down, recent photos of her boyfriend and former TOWIE co-star James “Arg” Argent, 30, have sparked concern among fans due to his weight gain. Commenting on a recent photo of the pair, one fan posted, “What a shame how James has let himself go!” Another cruelly commented, “He was skinny, now he’s a beached whale.”

Closer previously revealed how Gemma wanted her and Arg to capitalise on their plus-size figures and secure a lucrative weight-loss deal. But insiders reveal that while Gemma is on a weight-loss mission, she’s not putting any pressure on Arg to join her. Pals say she loves Arg’s heavier frame and prefers him bigger because it makes her feel more secure in their relationship.

A source adds, “Gemma was initially keen for her and Arg to lose weight together, but she knows how happy he is at the moment and how much he enjoys his food. She loves his bigger frame and says there’s more to love and more to cuddle in the bedroom – insisting the bigger he is, the more attractive he is to her.

“She may be losing weight with all her training, but Gemma’s told Arg she loves him just the way he is. They are at their happiest when they’re eating together.”

ROWS ABOUT FOOD

Gemma and Arg made their relationship official earlier this year, after dating on and off for seven years. And the voluptuous couple have made no secret of their love of food, with Gemma, 37, previously telling Closer, “Arg and I fuel each other”, adding how they comfort-eat after arguments.

Arg has also said that Gemma cooks up large meals for him, describing how the pair once became embroiled in an argument over portion size.

He said, “She puts about six scrambled eggs on my plate and then a big, big chunk of smoked salmon and I said, ‘Gem, this is lovely, but f**k me, how much smoked salmon do you want to put on my plate?’ She comes over to my plate, picks up the smoked salmon, opens the window and chucks it out – she’s an absolute nutcase.”

Sources add that Gemma also likes Arg being bigger because it makes her feel more secure in their romance.

A source says, “Gemma’s a bit insecure about their relationship as the pair have been on and off over the years. She’s happy that he’s fully committed to her now, but him being bigger makes her feel more confident they’ll stay together longterm. She’s admitted that her biggest fear about him losing weight is it changing their relationship and having a negative effect on them.”

HEALTH CONCERNS

And while insiders say that doctors have warned Arg about his weight gain, the star – who lost an incredible 3st last summer after a tenweek rehab stint in Thailand – recently insisted he was happier than ever, taking to Instagram to say, “Although I’ve gained weight, on the inside I’m in a great place.”

The source adds, “Arg knows he needs to lose some weight, but he’s happy with his life with Gemma. The couple love getting takeaways and having sweet treats – it’s what they both love to do and he doesn’t want to give up his favourite foods.”
