Prue, Paul, Noel and Sandi assemble to discuss all things GBBO 2018 as the exciting final of this year’s contest is upon us…

-

What can you tell us about the final? PAUL: I think this year’s final is unique and probably the best, because all three challenges are radically different. NOEL: And it was very calm... Is there a runaway winner? PAUL: I’m not saying! But like Noel said, it’s a very calm final – which is down to certain characters in the tent – it’s nothing to do with us. SANDI: Excuse me! Noel and I were working our a***es off to keem them calm! How have you found this series? PRUE: Relaxed. I loved last year and I didn’t think it would get any better, but it did – because we know each other so well now. PAUL: It’s been the friendliest Bake Off I’ve ever seen. Do you keep in touch with the bakers after they’ve gone? SANDI: There were a couple who said to me, “Shall we meet for coffee?” And I thought, “That would be really nice!” NOEL: They were all so nice this year, and they’re quite supportive of each other in the final. When they started going home, we were getting quite upset. Sandi, did you enjoy Danish Week [Sandi hails from that part of the world]? SANDI: It was the best week ever, and I taught Noel to say some things in Danish, as well, which was good. It was also the first time I felt what it was like to be a judge, as I had a view. I thought, “Well, that’s not quite right,” and I felt pressure. Can doing Bake Off change lives, do you think? PAUL: It’s about enriching lives, not taking them over. All the bakers in the tent have their own careers, their own jobs. On Bake Off, they just want to do the best they can and show what they can do.
