ARIANA & PETE ‘SPLIT’ AFTER WHIRLWIND ENGAGEMENT
They got engaged after just four weeks together but, last week, it was reported that Ariana Grande and fiancé Pete Davidson’s whirlwind relationship had come to an end.
Ariana, 25, and comedian Pete, 24 – who got engaged in June – reportedly separated earlier this month, with sources saying the pair ended things because it “simply wasn’t the right time for their relationship to take off”.
The news comes a month after Ariana’s ex-boyfriend Mac Miller – whom she dated for two years before they broke up in May – was found dead after a suspected drugs overdose. And sources say the tragedy put a strain on Ariana and Pete’s relationship, pushing the couple to “breaking point”.
The singer imposed a social media ban in the wake of Mac’s death, briefly breaking it last week to tell fans that the taping for a televised version of the musical Wicked had been “special”, before adding on Instagram Stories, “Time to say bye-bye again to the internet for just a lil bit.”
She added, “It’s hard not to bump news n stuff that I’m not trying to see rn. It’s very sad and we’re all tryin very hard to keep going. Love u. And thank u for bein here always [sic].”
Ariana met comedian Pete in 2016 on Saturday Night Live, and they began dating in May this year – just weeks after she split from Mac. They reportedly got engaged just four weeks later, with Ariana confirming the news with an Instagram snap of her £100,000 ring in June.
