Vicky: “John wants kids now – but I want to wait”
After a difficult year, Vicky Pattison admits her wedding plans with John Noble took a back seat, and says she’s not quite ready to start a family
She faced reports last week that she was on a make-orbreak holiday to Dubai with fiancé John Noble – with their romance said to be “hanging by a thread” after a series of rows over her reluctance to have children.
Opening up to Closer, Vicky Pattison remained tight-lipped on the speculation, but admitted the couple have faced a difficult year after the shock death of her best friend Paul Burns this summer, and says that planning their upcoming nuptials didn’t take priority.
The 31 year old admits, “John and I have had a tough year. John lost both of his grandparents, and I lost my best friend. It’s been difficult, as we’ve both been grieving, and the thought of planning a wedding definitely took a back seat.”
TAKING IT SLOW
Opening up to Closer before the speculation made headlines, Vicky remained tightlipped but admitted, “I feel less broody than John. He’s keen to have kids soon, but I’m taking a more measured approach. I want to get married, then I want to acclimatise to being married. I want us to travel and just enjoy us before we heap a load more pressure on with a little bundle of joy. I’m well aware it will also be a little bundle of poop and screams.”
Vicky – who first found fame at 23 in Geordie Shore and is taking part in Celebrity Hunted in aid of Stand Up To Cancer – explains that while she wants to give her all to motherhood, her job is important, too.
“I don’t want to compromise my career, and I certainly wouldn’t want to compromise the quality of mothering I do, so at the moment, I’m just not there yet,” she says. “Eventually, I’m going to dedicate myself to being a mum properly, and I will want a couple of kids. John and I both come from two-children households, so I think I’ll aim for that. We’ll see how it goes!”
PRIORITIES
The star – whose close pals Ferne Mccann and Casey Batchelor have both become mums in the past year – adds, “Kids are without a doubt in our future, it’s just a question of when. I see how much joy they can bring to your life, like with Ferne and Casey, but I also know it’s not easy, so I’m being very realistic and just focusing on the wedding for now.”
After a string of tumultuous relationships – including Ricci Guarnaccio, Stephen Bear and Spencer Matthews – Vicky rekindled her romance with former flame John in late 2016, having dated him before she joined Geordie Shore. The businessman popped the question in July 2017, and they plan to tie the knot next year.
Hinting that the pair were determined to work through their problems in a lovedup Instagram post from their trip to Dubai last week, Vicky posted the caption, “I can’t promise you a perfect relationship, but what I can promise you is that, if you’re trying, I’m staying.”and she tells Closer that after a challenging year, she’s now keen to focus on their nuptials, after hiring an efficient wedding planner. “We’re finally making some headway, thank God,” she explains. “My wedding planner is just so on it, I absolutely love it. I needed someone who could take charge, and she’s that woman, so I’m very grateful to her.”
