LISA: ‘This divorce has made me stronger’
They’ve had a bitter break-up, and now it’s officially all over for Ant Mcpartlin and Lisa Armstrong as they were granted a divorce last week.
Ant, 42, and Lisa, 41, ended their 11-year marriage in just 30 seconds, with Lisa citing “adultery” as the reason for divorce, along with finding it “intolerable” to live with Ant. Lisa was able to cite adultery as she was married – although separated at the time – to Ant when he began a relationship with his former PA Anne-marie Corbett, 42, in April.
Hours after their marriage was ended, Lisa was seen filming for Strictly spin-off It Takes Two – where she serves as head makeup artist – looking happy and relaxed. Fans commented on how content Lisa seemed, with one saying, “Looking good, Lisa. Onwards and upwards!” While another added, “I hope she finds happiness again.”
And despite previously expressing her heartache over the split – and last week liking a Tweet that said she’d had a “hideous year”, as well as previously liking comments about Anne-marie breaking the “girl code”– friends say Lisa is feeling positive about the split and is ready to move on.
A source says, “Lisa feels that the divorce being finalised has marked a change in her mental state, finally allowing her to draw a line under that painful chapter and start focusing on her future.”
Meanwhile, Ant – who attended rehab earlier this year for addiction to alcohol and painkillers – appears to be happier than ever with his new girlfriend, with fans noticing earlier this month that a selfie with Anne-marie was his phone background.
And pals say Ant is relieved that the divorce is over and is looking forward to moving on and starting a new life.
A source says, “Ant feels like he has a new lease of life. He never wanted to hurt Lisa, but he believes he deserves happiness, too. He hasn’t ruled out marrying again, or even having children with her – which he’s previously been open about wanting. He wishes Lisa the best. He’ll always love and care about her.”
