Pals say divorced Lisa Armstrong is determined to forge ahead with a new life in the spotlight
he’s remained S defiant during her bitter split from ex-husband Ant Mcmartlin, putting on a brave face as he moved on with their former PA and family friend, Anne-marie Corbett.
Now sources say Lisa Armstrong – who is rumoured to be in talks for a book deal – is looking to happier times and considering starting over with a new life in the spotlight.
Following reports that Lisa, 42, had been issued with a legal warning after “liking” Tweets criticising her former husband and his new girlfriend in recent months, pals close to the makeup artist say she’s been buoyed by the overwhelming wave of public support in her favour.
STARTING AFRESH
A source says, “Lisa’s really been through the mill these past few months and has done a fantastic job of holding it all together. She’s felt for a long while that she needs to start afresh.
“She’s so grateful for the public’s support since she and Ant split and it’s encouraged her to raise her profile. In recent months, she’s been offered TV interviews, a makeover show, and even the chance to compete on next year’s Strictly – and she’s not ruling out anything. Because of her high-profile break-up, she’s considered hot property in the eyes of TV producers. Lisa wants to use her painful experience and put it to good use by showing how she’s bounced back. She thinks any one of these projects could give her confidence and a renewed sense of purpose.”
DWELLING ON THE PAST
Since news of the pair’s shock split was announced in January, Strictly make-up artist Lisa has been inundated with support online, with concerned fans reaching out to her when Ant’s romance with Annemarie was exposed in June. Their divorce was finalised last month, with Lisa citing adultery as the pair were still technically married when Ant – who was reportedly paying Lisa’s legal fees in a bid to speed up the process– started dating Anne-marie.
Now insiders say that Lisa’s plans to step into the limelight are likely to unsettle Ant – who entered rehab in 2017 for an addiction to painkillers, reported to have stemmed from failed knee surgery.
The 42-year-old TV presenter, who returned to rehab in March following his drink-drive arrest, is said to be keen to put their break-up firmly in the past and move on.
The source says, “Ant’s pals suspect he won’t be happy if Lisa steps more into the public arena. Understandably, he doesn’t want her dwelling on the past or dredging things up. But Lisa feels she has a right to do what she wants in terms of her career. She’s been gradually getting back her strength over the past few months and feels as though she’s being given a new lease of life.”
