SPICE GIRLS CONVINCE MEL TO END HER FEUD WITH POSH
After Mel B’s new book leaves out details of her feud with Posh, insiders reveal how the rest of the Spice Girls called for a truce
Her salacious tell-all memoir Brutally Honest is out this week, but while many excerpts appear to focus on Mel B’s turbulent marriage to Stephen Belafonte, any revelations about her nemesis Victoria Beckham are notably absent. Despite the duo’s infamous spat, which has seen Mel, 43, dub her fellow Spice Girl a “b***h”, the book is now set to only focus on Mel’s private relationships and not her bandmates.
INNERMOST SECRETS
As Closer previously reported, Posh, 44, had feared Mel would expose her innermost secrets, including details of her marriage to David Beckham, inviting yet more scrutiny into their relationship. And pals say she’s relieved it’s not happened.
A source says, “Vic feels like she can breathe again. Although she knows she and David have nothing to hide, she’s relieved her marriage secrets are safe. Although Mel blows hot and cold and she’s never sure what’s next.”
Sources had told how Mel “knows all about the false reports of David cheating and how furious and heartbroken they left Vic.”
But insiders reveal that it was the pair’s bandmates, Geri Horner, Emma Bunton and Mel C, who stepped in to convince Mel not to do anything that could overshadow their upcoming reunion tour.
A source says, “The rest of the Spice Girls let Mel know that it would go against their friendship and values, having one turn on the other like that so publicly – and that isn’t what they’re about. They made it very clear to Mel that it wasn’t something they wished the band to be associated with.”
FROSTINESS
Following a recent string of digs against fashion designer Posh – Mel even took a swipe at her ex-bandmate by dressing up as her on Halloween – she’s apparently now made a U-turn. And pals say the Spice Girls told Mel – who revealed she’s been left with just £800 in her bank account following the end of her marriage – that if she betrayed Posh publicly, they wouldn’t be able to trust her.
Earlier this month, reports claimed Mel believed Posh had refused to reunite with the band after she called her a “b***h” during an interview in 2016. But at the start of this month, Mel hinted that the frostiness between them had thawed, and during an appearance on a radio show said it was “tough” without Posh and insisted she’s a “huge” part of the band.
The source says, “They told Mel they wouldn’t be able to trust her if she carried on acting that way. Severing all ties with her bandmates is the last thing Mel wants when she needs stability after her messy divorce. She knows she can be hot-headed, so has chosen to end the feud with Vic for now to keep the others happy.”
