‘I can’t wait to be a glam-ma’

- By Olivia Buxton

Kym recently announced that she is set to become a grandmother for the first time as her daughter Emily, 21, is about to welcome a baby boy in May.

She tells “I can’t wait to be a grandma and see my little grandson. Am I going to be a glamma? Well, I am not very glam first thing in the morning! It’s wonderful and we are all really excited. My daughter has just suddenly started blossoming.”

The soap star has revealed that she empathises with her daughter, having given birth to her first child, David, at just 18. And she’s excited about the new addition to the family.

She adds, “Being a young mum seems to be a pattern in my family. My mum was 18 when she had my brother, my sister was 18 when she fell pregnant and so was I. I’ve warned her that it’s going to be hard work, but I’ve also said that there are a lot of positives to being a young mum, too.

“There were times when I struggled because your life changes so much when you have a child, especially when you are young, but I wouldn’t change what I have now for the world.” letters every week. We’d write each other letters that we would open every Friday because that is when we would normally see each other. Then I sent Scott away with a couple of gifts and he had a gift arrive for me every week as well. It was very romantic.”

QUALITY TIME

After moving house just before Christmas, Kym was due to spend the festive season with her children, and New Year’s at Scott’s.

She reveals, “It was lovely to be in our new house – I mean, I don’t do things by halves – and then I couldn’t wait to spend New Year with Scott and his family in Scotland. It is very special for us to be together.”
