MAKE MONEY FROM OLD STUFF!

Don’t just dump your unwanted things when you replace them – lots of companies will reward you for upgrading. Here’s how you can get £££s from household items

-

OUTDATED PHONES

Fancy some extra cash? Carphone Warehouse will partially refund you if you send them your old device when buying a new one. Just order your new phone, complete an online form to trade in your old one, then they’ll send you a prepaid envelope and, if you send it back within seven working days, the funds will appear in your bank account within three to five days. Payments depend on the model and condition, but a fairly new phone in good nick could be worth hundreds. Visit Carphonewarehouse.com/ mobiles/trade-in.

USED CLOTHES

Donate an item of M&Slabelled clothing or soft furnishings to any Oxfam store and you’ll receive a voucher for £5 off a £35 spend at M&S. Just be sure to mention the offer at your local Oxfam store when taking in your donation. Visit Oxfam. org.uk for more information.

HOME APPLIANCES

Electrical online retailer AO offers cashback for their old items when you buy a brandnew model. The products available for trade-in are clearly marked on their website, or you can search items at Ao.com/ help-and-advice/help-with-myorder/trade-in. Put the product you’re upgrading to in your basket and tick the “trade-in” box when you checkout. AO will collect your old appliance when delivering the new one and the cash will reach your account within 40 days. There’s one rule; it needs to be a like-for-like, so a fridge for a fridge, not a fridge for a washing machine.

VIDEO GAMES

Got a gamer in your life who needs a new challenge? Tradein their old Playstation, Xbox and Nintendo games at GAME and you can buy selected new releases for half price. Current options include Resident Evil 2, Anthem and The Division 2. Visit Game.co.uk/tradeindeals or ask in store.

BROKEN BIKES

Take your old bike to any one of Evans Cycles’ 62 stores – whatever condition it’s in – and they’ll give it to one of their network of UK charities. You can then get money off your new set of wheels – the amount depends on the price of your new bike. They’ll take anything from tricycles and BMXS to adult road bikes, even if it’s missing a wheel. Order online with delivery service Click & Collect or pop in store. To check if your bike is eligible, visit Evanscycles.com/trade-in.

APPLE PRODUCTS

You can get either an Apple gift card or instant credit in store in return for your old Apple items – including phones, tablets, computers and watches – perfect for upgrading your iphone or ipad! Visit Apple. com/uk/shop/trade-in and answer a few questions to find out what your device is worth, then freepost it back or take it into any Apple store.
