Kylie blasted over Stormi’s “tacky” £100k party
Kylie Jenner pulls out all the stops for her daughter Stormi’s first birthday – but faces a backlash for ‘wasting money’ on the bash, which included a big top and live animals
❛ THEY THINK NOTHING OF LAVISH SHOWS OF AFFECTION AND FLASHING THEIR CASH ❜
She’s unlikely to remember her first birthday, but that didn’t stop proud parents Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott throwing one of the most lavish birthday parties ever seen for their daughter Stormi.
The show-stopping bash was held in a three-storey carnivalthemed wonderland dubbed “Stormi World”. There were live performances, a knockout £5,000 birthday cake and even a shop supplying Stormithemed merchandise.
Kylie admitted she’d been pretty extravagant for her daughter’s birthday, writing on Instagram, “I had to go all out for my baby.”
Fans following the event on social media were in awe of everything – from the “big top” entrance with an enormous inflatable replica of Stormi’s head, to the Louis Vuittonbranded boxes of fries.
ANIMAL CRUELTY
The bash also featured a carousel, a swing ride, Stormithemed party games and slides connecting the different floors – which included a rainbow room, a butterfly forest and a bubble room. On top of that, actors dressed as princesses and pixies to greet guests, and there was a live stage performance of hit children’s song Baby Shark. But the glitzy gathering, held at Universal Studios, sparked a backlash – particularly for the use of live animals. One critic wrote online, “Why bring a poor giraffe and zebra? Animal cruelty!”, which was liked hundreds of times. Another added, “They must have been terrified being walked through a building of screaming kids and tacky carnival rides”.
The party, estimated by an expert planner to have cost up to £100,000, was slammed by others as a “waste of money”, although it’s not known whether Kylie – a self-made billionaire thanks to her successful cosmetic line – and rapper Travis footed the bill, or if it was budgeted as part of the network costs for the family TV show Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
One angry post, liked over 500 times, read, “Imagine how much good could come from donating all this money spent to cancer research or helping underprivileged kids with new coats and shoes – they waste so much money on these parties
and for what?”
EXTRAVAGANCE
It’s not the first time the Kardashian/jenner clan have come under fire for the extravagant spending on their babies. Last year it was revealed Kim, 38, had blown £400,000 when her third child Chicago was born, including £120,000 on a teddy bear and £65,000 for a gold dummy.
And 21-year-old Kylie revealed last year that Stormi, then just
weeks old, already had a £20,000 designer shoe collection – despite being unable to walk.
A source says, “The Kardashians love their kids and think nothing of lavish shows of affection and flashing their cash. They think any criticism is just a sign of people’s jealousy and they’re not planning to tone down their act.”
