‘Gemma supported me through my split’

Dancing On Ice – and now Megan Barton Hanson tells

Closer that Gemma Collins has been a friend to lean on during her split.

Megan, 24, parted ways with Wes, 20, last month following her war of words with his skating partner Vanessa Bauer, who the Love

Island star claimed hadn’t “reached out or invited” her to watch them train. She also admitted that the show had put a strain on their relationship, saying she only had Wes “three hours a night, exhausted after doing 12 hours a day training.”

And Megan – who met Gemma, 38, when she went to support Wes on the skating show – said the former

TOWIE star was sympathetic towards her when she split from Wes.

She says, “Gemma was amazingly supportive to me. When I went to watch Wes the week that we had broken up, she gave me a hug and said, ‘Call me whenever you want. I know how hard it is.’ Doing that job, she knows how difficult it is for your partner to spend hours with someone else and the struggle involved. I got the impression she has been through it with Arg, too. She told me she was here for me if I needed her. She’s amazing.”

Megan adds that she’s looking for someone a little older for her next romance. She says, “I think I need an older man. Next time, it’ll be no one under the age of 27. I want someone to lead me and guide me, not for me to do the leading all the time. I want someone to take care of me – I just want to be treated like a princess.”
