MILEY ON HER ‘NEW AGE’ MARRIAGE TO LIAM
She wed partner S Liam Hemsworth in December last year after an on/off ten-year romance. But despite wearing a white dress and toning down her risqué image for the big day, Miley Cyrus has insisted her marriage to the Australian actor, 29, is far from traditional.
The 26 year old – who revealed in 2015 that she was bisexual – said, “I wore a dress on my wedding day because I felt like it. I straightened my hair because I felt like it. But that doesn’t make me become some instantly polite hetero lady.”
Discussing her love for Liam – who she first met on the set of the 2009 movie The Last Song – she added, “We’re redefining, to be f***ing frank, what it looks like for someone that’s a queer person like myself to be in a hetero relationship. What I preach is: People fall in love with people, not gender, not looks, not whatever. What I’m in love with exists on almost a spiritual level. It has nothing to do with sexuality... gender is a very small, almost irrelevant, part of relationships.”
Miley and Liam famously split in 2013 – a year after their first engagement. In 2015, Miley was linked to female model Stella Maxwell, 28. She rekindled her romance with Liam two years ago. Closer previously reported the pair married in December, having realised that life can be short following the loss of their home in the Californian wildfires.
