My day in style: Katya Jones

KATYA JONES

-

From 6am hot yoga workouts to easing into gruelling Strictly routines, dance pro Katya,

30, talks us through her nine to five ‘I’VE VOWED TO NOT BUY ANYTHING FOR OR A WHOLE YEAR!’

MORNING:

6AM: I’m not a morning person, but I get up around 6am throughout the year to make the Strictly early starts a little bit easier.

8AM: If I don’t have training, I love going to hot yoga classes and then grabbing a coffee afterwards. If I’m heading to the dance studio, I’ll make a smoothie so I have some energy until lunchtime. I don’t normally have any breakfast.

9AM: I like getting the Tube to work rather than driving, as it means I can have a nap before my long day starts. I always manage to get an extra half an hour in, or I read a book.

10AM: I currently have Strictly training every morning from nine-ish until the evening, which is really demanding, so I try to eat as healthily as I can to give me energy. I’ve swapped carbs, grains and most sugars for healthy fats as part of my Keto diet, which helps me through the day.

12PM: I like to have an early lunch because I skip breakfast. I’m always running around, whether I have training or not, and love Pret salads. Especially their crayfish one. I adore seafood and eat more fish than meat.

AFTERNOON:

1PM: After lunch at training, I’ll have a little top-up of make-up and deodorant. In my bag, I always have my metal water bottle as I’m trying to be more conscious of the environment. I also have some perfume and my trusty Clarins lip balm, which is fantastic.

2PM: I’m most comfortable in my training gear. I love yoga pants and a crop top.

I’m not into designer clothes so I get my essentials from H&M or Primark.

But I’ve actually decided not to shop for a year. I was inspired by Oxfam’s #SecondHandSeptember pledge, where you say no to new clothing for the month, but I’m doing a whole 12 months instead.

5.30PM: If I’m heading out for dinner, I like getting dressed up. I love recycling an old playsuit or a mini skirt, teamed with chunky boots and a biker jacket. I’ll keep my makeup simple with tinted moisturiser and my favourite L’Oréal mascara.

EVENING:

9PM: A night in for me is cooking as soon as I get home because I often get back quite late during rehearsals. I always treat myself to some chocolate after dinner. Then I get ready for bed. I’m not a big fan of watching television – I can’t sit still.

10PM: I’ll take off my make-up with a bamboo cloth and cleanser, pop on a face mask and get into bed. I’ll then have a quick read of a good book, which relaxes me after a hectic day of dancing.
