FEARS FOR FERNE OVER NEW ROMANCE

Ferne McCann’s blossoming relationship with Love Island star Jordan Hames has sparked concerns with her pals as they fear she’s moving too fast

- By Daisy McLure

Her world was torn apart in 2017 when her ex-boyfriend Arthur Collins was jailed for throwing acid at a crowd in a London nightclub – leaving the then-pregnant star crushed as she was forced to raise their daughter Sunday, now two, alone.

While she’s remained largely single since their heartbreaking split, Ferne McCann now has a smile on her face once again and appeared loved-up with Love Island star Jordan Hames last week after they were spotted passionately kissing at a showbiz event.

A source says, “Ferne’s smitten with Jordan and says he’s the first man she’s met in a long time who’s given her ‘genuine butterflies’ and made her feel excited about her future again. After everything she’s been through it’s wonderful to see her lovedup and happy again.” Jordan, 24, rose to fame on the hit dating show this summer – but faced a backlash from viewers when he made a move on India Reynolds, who was happily coupled-up with Ovie Soko at the time, and despite just making things official with girlfriend Anna Vakili.

GETTING HURT

Insiders say that while Ferne, 29, is happy at the moment, pals have warned her to stay cautious with her romance and not move too quickly.

The source adds, “No one wants to ruin it for Ferne, but her friends are urging her to be a little wary and not to rush into a new romance with Jordan.

“They’ve warned her to tread carefully while getting to know Jordan – they worry about her getting hurt. She’s not had a serious relationship in a while, so they want her to take her time.”

Following Arthur’s conviction, Ferne – who had gushed about their wedding plans shortly before the attack that landed him a 20-year jail sentence after injuring 16 people and leaving three temporarily blinded – said, “There’s not a day that’s gone by when I haven’t cried.”

Ferne’s car-crash love life has been played out in the spotlight since she joined TOWIE in 2012 alongside her then long-term boyfriend Charlie Sims – with whom she had a bitter split after he dumped her on Twitter in 2015.

And despite a short-lived romance with a mystery older man which ended in July, and being linked to another Love Island star, 2018 contestant Charlie Brake, after being spotted holding hands on a night out, Ferne has been open about her longing to find a happy-ever-after.

Earlier this year, she admitted, “Being a single parent can be really lonely sometimes. Even though it’s the best thing because you get

all the love and it’s so rewarding, there are definitely nights when it’s like, ‘Wow, I don’t have anyone else.’”

VULNERABLE

And pals fear the star – who told Closer earlier this year how she dreamed of “living in a house in the country with a family” – isn’t thinking about her long-term future.

The source adds, “Ferne still feels vulnerable from her past heartache and scars from the trauma she went through with Arthur. She’s still fragile, despite two years having passed. She’s taken on board her friends’ comments, but is getting on well with Jordan and insists she has to take risks if she wants to be happy again.

“She has assured friends she knows what she’s doing, and while it’s still early days with Jordan, she’s happy right now.”
