Age-defying stars at 50
At half a century, Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani and Jennifer Aniston look as good today as they did 20 years ago! Here, Closer reveals how these ‘ageless stars’ stay in shape
J-LO
‘I ditched alcohol and caffeine’
Jennifer Lopez wowed fans last week as she recreated the moment she wore her iconic 2000 Grammy Awards Versace dress – this time at the designer’s fashion show in Milan. And almost 20 years on, the singer hardly looks any different.
Unsurprisingly, a superclean diet is essential for her toned torso. She doesn’t drink alcohol or caffeine, and recently took on a 10-day no-sugar, no-carb challenge to “re-boost her system”.
Even eating out isn’t an excuse to break her diet. “Most restaurants offer healthy, low-calorie meals so l have salad, or fish with veggies,” says the mum-of-two.
On top of that, she works out for an hour every morning with personal trainer Tracy Anderson, then puts on energetic dance performances in the evenings if she’s on stage.
Her latest movie, Hustlers, also means she’s been pole-dancing daily, which has helped her tone up.
As for her skin care, it’s all very basic. “I never go to bed without taking my make-up off, and I use night creams to keep my skin hydrated,” she says. “I love glycolic acid [a toning exfoliator] to get that healthy glow and clear skin.”
GWEN
‘I work out like a man!’
Since the ’90s, No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani has been performing in crop-tops, and credits weight training with creating those impressive abs.
The star – who turns 50 this week – said, “I’m not into yoga or Pilates. I’m more like a man – I like lifting weights and doing a little boxing.”
The mum-of-three added, “There is no secret to getting my body – you just have to eat healthy, work out and torture yourself!”
She also sticks to a “mainly vegan” diet, and has kept her skin line-free by avoiding the sun since she was in her 20s and wearing a daily SPF moisturiser.
JENNIFER
‘I love lasers & face massages’
The key to Jennifer Aniston’s toned figure is working out with a personal trainer four times a week, plus 20 minutes of yoga every day. She recently said, “Mostly, my body feels better at 50.”
The actress boosts her gym results with a strict gluten-free, low-carb and high-protein diet.
Despite her smooth complexion, Jen famously shuns Botox, saying in 2014, “I am never injecting s*** into my face,” and instead uses other treatments.
“It’s all about hydration, and things like LED light therapy, good lasers that tighten the muscles, and massages for your face – and don’t forget great creams,” she said.
