Lisa’s pals urge her to ‘stay calm’ before Ant court battle
As Lisa Armstrong likes tweets slamming ex Ant McPartlin, insiders say loved ones are urging restraint in the build-up to finalising their divorce
Her bitter divorce from ex Ant McPartlin is still ongoing and looks no closer to being settled – and Lisa Armstrong appeared to vent her feelings as she ‘favourited’ comments on social media that criticised him and his new girlfriend.
Make-up artist Lisa liked a series of tweets slamming Ant, 44, and his girlfriend Anne-Marie Corbett, 43. One read, “I’ve gone right off Ant. Think I’m not alone in that opinion. The way he’s treated @lisaAmakeup has been disgraceful.”
DISGUSTING BEHAVIOUR
Seemingly referring to pictures of Ant and Anne-Marie in Australia ahead of the I’m A Celeb! launch, another critic posted, “It seems to be an unwritten rule that when a man has an affair then parades the woman around in public that the wife is always made out to be the bad one, to justify his disgusting behaviour.”
Ant and Lisa, 43, split in January 2017 after 11 years of marriage, when it emerged he had been struggling with an addiction to painkillers following knee surgery.
Their £62m divorce has been ongoing ever since, with recent reports saying Lisa refused to sign a non-disclosure agreement or to agree to custody terms over their pet Labrador Hurley this summer.
Last week, columnist Dan Wootton urged Lisa to stop being the “bitter and scornful ex” and “start a new life”. He said, “She seems hell-bent on revenge at any cost… Lisa, you will only find true joy if you find it in your soul to move on too. Unlock the doors to the house you shared with Ant and allow him to gather his personal possessions.”
Now, sources say that Lisa’s friends are urging her to hold back from stirring up any more drama with her ex.
CALM AND DIGNIFIED
A source says, “This time of year – the build-up to I’m A Celeb… – can be difficult for Lisa. But her family and friends are urging her not to ‘like’ any more tweets about Ant and Anne-Marie. Of course, it’s not easy seeing Ant and her former friend looking so loved-up in Australia – but her inner circle are advising her to keep the upper hand by remaining calm and dignified.
“She’s had so much public support since they split, which she’s grateful for. But her pals say it’s important she doesn’t go too far and come across as bitter on social media.”
Last week, Closer revealed how Lisa has held off reaching a divorce settlement because she doesn’t want to be “dictated by Ant’s schedule”, as she is in the midst of filming Strictly Come Dancing, and wants to take her time before agreeing to his terms for the divorce. The source adds, “Despite how difficult the situation is, friends and family are telling her to rise above it and try to keep a low profile until the court battle starts.”
