Worries over her husband’s close friendships have left Victoria Beckham fretting about the impact on their relationship

-

Celebrating their milestone 20th wedding anniversary in July with a loved-up holiday in the south of France was a chance for Victoria Beckham to prove the doubters wrong – and to show that, despite reports of a rift, her marriage to David Beckham is currently stronger than ever.

The pair posted sweet tributes to each other online and were pictured putting on a very tactile display. And while Posh, 45, has continued to gush over her “inspirational” husband – recently revealing how lucky she felt to have found a “soulmate” in the former footballer – insiders say the Spice Girlturned-fashion designer is panicking their relationship could come under scrutiny again, as actress Davinia Taylor sensationally opens up about her colourful past with David’s BFF, Dave Gardner.

WORRIES

Nineteen years after her highlypublicised and bitter divorce from Dave in 2010 – which led to sports agent Dave, 41, gaining custody of their son Grey, now 12, and being awarded a settlement of £1million – toiletroll heiress Davinia, 42, has revealed details of her battle with alcoholism during the couple’s wild “partying years”. And sources tell Closer her confessions have left Victoria feeling uneasy that intimate secrets from her own marriage could be revealed.

A source explains, “Dave has been a firm fixture in the Beckham household for the past three decades and is godfather to their eldest son, Brooklyn. He is David’s biggest and most long-standing confidante, after they met at just 14, so of course he knows all his innermost secrets – he’s the one person David turns to for advice when the going gets tough.

“Although Vic knows she and David have nothing to hide, she worries Davinia might continue to spill the beans on what went on behind closed doors during her time with her ex, in particular the couple’s high profile friendships – which could lead to her letting slip things Vic would prefer remaining private.”

David, 44, acted as best man to Dave and Davinia when they wed in July 2003 – the exact same year and month the Beckhams’ personal assistant Rebecca

Loos claimed she’d had an affair with the footballer, which he vehemently denied. During their seven-year marriage, they also witnessed a second woman, Sarah Marbeck, claim to have enjoyed a night of passion with Becks – which he again strongly refuted – while the Beckhams sued their former nanny Abbie Gibson for claiming their marriage was a “sham”.

The source adds, “Dave and Davinia were together when Vic and David were going through some really tough times.

“Even though David is adamant there’s nothing to worry about, Vic knows that when you’re stressed you need to vent your feelings and she’s nervous Davinia might inadvertently give some detail about their close friendship which could create more speculation around her, David or even their marriage.

“It’s the last thing she needs right now, especially as all the intense rumours around their relationship had finally started to die down.”

AWKWARD

Last year, the Beckhams – who share Brooklyn, 20, Romeo,

17, Cruz, 14, and Harper, eight – rubbished reports of them being on the brink of divorce as “ludicrous”. Rumours were rife after months of awkward body language between the pair, including him seemingly refusing to hold her hand at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding last May.

The source continues, “Vic and David are in a really good place in their relationship right now. This is genuinely one of the happiest times for them as a couple and she is desperate to keep it that way.”
