‘We’re so excited about the future’

The runners-up of Love Island open up about life outside the villa and how they’re spending their first Christmas together

-

They may not have won Love Island this year, but MollyMae Hague and Tommy Fury have stood the test of time, as they are one of just two pairs from this summer’s series to go the distance after leaving the villa.

The reality TV couple moved in together this September, in Manchester, where they were both based before going on the show.

And Molly-Mae and Tommy, both 20, reveal they often talk about their future – but don’t want to fall victim to the curse of previous Love Island couples.

“We’ve been spending a lot of time with each other. I think people expect us to be apart the whole time, but we’re not – we’re pretty much together every day. I was expecting to see less of Tommy than I have done, but we actually really made it work,” Molly-Mae tells Closer.

“We have no plans for babies any time soon, but we’re really excited for our future and we do plan to be together forever. We talk very openly about the future.

“We’re so excited. It just works for him and me – you know when you meet someone and it feels so right. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.”

And Tommy is just as adamant that moving in together so soon has worked for their new relationship, especially as before Christmas he was busy in training with fellow Love Islander Curtis Pritchard for TV show The Boxer & The Ballroom Dancer.

“Molly and I live together in

Manchester, so no matter what we do in the day, we always come back to the same place and we’ve had every night together,” Tommy says.

“My dancing training is only 20 minutes up the road, so after I finish I come home to cook. We have nice meals, go to the cinema... We’re not big celebrities – we’re just a normal couple. “I’ve got what I wanted out of Love Island – a beautiful girlfriend. Now, I’m going to go back to my boxing and pick up where I left off.”

Molly-Mae and Tommy won’t be spending this Christmas together, as they’ll be celebrating with their families, but the couple will reunite for a romantic holiday to ring in the New Year.

“My idea is that I’ll probably go home, he’ll go home, and then he’ll come down to me or I’ll go to him back in Manchester – we’ll make it work. Nothing is ever stressful with us,” Molly-Mae says.

“We’re going away to the Maldives – that’s what I’m focusing on. Forget about Christmas! I’m looking forward to getting on that plane and going away.

“I just want to enjoy that time with Tommy – it’ll be really nice to properly enjoy each other’s company.”
