Coleen: “Our couples’ makeover will get us back on track”
Coleen Rooney overhauls husband Wayne’s looks in a bid to reignite their marriage and help boost their image as a global brand
She’s had a big change of image in the wake of the “WAGatha Christie” scandal, flaunting a sexier look after reportedly undergoing fillers and Botox. And now it seems 33-year-old Coleen Rooney has focused her attention on her husband of 11 years, Wayne, 34, in a bid to cement their status as one of football’s power couples.
Wayne – who’s had two hair transplants – sparked rumours he’d had another treatment last week after displaying a darker, thicker beard at a match with new club Derby County, just days after being seen with his usual ginger and greyspeckled facial hair.
One fan posted on social media, “I’m convinced Rooney’s dyed his beard,” while another wrote, “He’s blatantly coloured it or had a transplant.”
Now friends tell Closer that Coleen – who has previously admitted to having non-invasive liposuction – is behind Wayne’s sharper image. A source says, “Coleen is feeling happy and settled, and even though she initially wanted a quiet life out of the spotlight, she’s having a change of heart, as her own new image has given her such a confidence boost.
“She’s been enjoying the attention and it’s reminded her of how things used to be in the mid-noughties, when Wayne was a star striker for Manchester United and the England team, and she had her own TV and media career.

“To regain some of their sparkle, she’s encouraged Wayne to have bi-weekly facials and microdermabrasion treatments, and even advised him to have his eyebrows maintained. Coleen has always fancied Wayne, but they both agree that a couples’ makeover has helped put the spark back into their marriage and help them get back on track.”
Insiders recently told Closer that Coleen’s new look had given her something positive to focus on, amid a spate of recent scandals that had rocked their marriage – including her spat with fellow WAG Rebekah Vardy last October. Coleen claimed family secrets had been leaked to the press by Rebekah’s Instagram account – something she strongly denies.
Wayne has made a habit of making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Their supposed fresh start in the US was blighted by reports of a ten-hour bender with a barmaid in Florida last February, as well as reports he stripped to his boxers in front of three women at a boozy jacuzzi party with his DC United teammates in September.
MISTAKES
But last week, Wayne seemed to acknowledge some of his past bad behaviour, by backing casino company 32Red’s Stay
In Control gambling awareness campaign. Opening up about his own former gambling issues – he once allegedly blew £65k in just two hours at a casino – he insisted, “I have learned from my mistakes.”
And, on the way to an away game as Derby captain, he carried a washbag customised with a snap of their four sons – Kai, ten, Klay, six, Kit, three and one-yearold Cass. Insiders say this was a deliberate move from Coleen.
The source says, “She’s got lots of plans for ‘Brand Rooney’, such as a kidswear line fronted by their boys and lots more charity work. She hopes a squeaky-clean, familyorientated image will help them regain their crown as football’s power couple.”
