POSH ‘HURT’ BY HYPOCRITE BACKLASH

-

She was slammed by animal rights groups last week for carrying a £16,000 crocodile skin handbag just months after declaring her fashion and beauty lines were “100 per cent cruelty-free”.

The former Spice Girl, 45, had garnered praise when she announced she was ditching exotic animal skins from her label last year – but has been left feeling “hurt” by the backlash over her Hermès Birkin crocodile bag.

One online commenter said, “What a hypocrite!” – and pals say the star is worried the backlash could further damage her already struggling brand and has vowed to be more conscious about her fashion choices.

A source says, “Victoria was devastated at being branded hypocritical when she’s working so hard to carefully promote her enterprises and be as relatable and genuine as possible. “She admitted she didn’t think about the potential stir it would create, and as an animal lover herself, she knows she has to be far more careful about what she wears – from clothes to accessories – from now on.”

The Beckham name was also in the headlines last week when reports emerged that eldest son Brooklyn, 20, was in talks to appear on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

And insiders say that Posh fears Strictly’s reputation for scandals and gossip could harm Brooklyn’s reputation.

A source says, “When Brooklyn told his mum that his manager had a call asking him to meet with the show’s executives, she immediately panicked – warning him to carefully weigh up all the pros and cons or risk his reputation if it goes wrong.

“She’s incredibly protective of Brooklyn, and while she’s a big fan of Strictly, it’s not necessarily a show she wants to attach her family name to. She’s warning him to think long and hard before he makes any decisions.”
