“My party days are over now I’m a mum” Marnie:

Geordie Shore star Marnie Simpson on embracing motherhood now that her son Rox has arrived, and ditching wild nights out

- By Annabelle Lee

She’s swapped nights out for nappies, and booze for baby bottles, but Marnie Simpson says she couldn’t be happier to have ditched her Geordie Shore lifestyle since she became a first-time mum.

The reality star, who gave birth to her son Rox in October last year, says having a child has made her so content. “I just love him so much,” she smiles, as she cuddles baby Rox during her photoshoot with Closer. “I’m loving every second of motherhood.”

Marnie, 28 – who shares Rox with boyfriend Casey Johnson, 24 – says she feels like a totally different person now and doesn’t mind saying goodbye to her party days one bit.

NEW CHAPTER

“I’m at home all the time now and I like that,” she explains. “I did so much partying before, but I’m not interested in going out now and I don’t even enjoy drinking. I was so ready for this life and this new chapter. I’m just happy being at home with Casey and Rox.”

And Marnie – who now stars on Geordie OGs, a reality show following the original cast of Geordie Shore – says becoming a mum has changed her in every way.

“I don’t get stressed as easily, and I don’t moan about things that are fixable. It’s definitely changed us for the better. I feel so content. Before I had Rox, I used to be so bothered about such shallow stuff, and now I just don’t care. I feel like a woman now.”

The bubbly star, who has previously said she suffers from body dysmorphia, turned to surgery in the past – having a breast uplift, nose job and facial fillers – but says her priorities have changed and looks are no longer at the forefront of her mind.

“Worrying about your appearance just seems so irrelevant now. I still like to pluck my eyebrows and wash my hair, of course! But with things like surgery, I just think, ‘What is the point?’ It’s so not important to have the best boobs or the best bum, whereas before I thought it was. I wouldn’t get surgery now.”

Marnie says that motherhood has not only changed her, but also her relationship with Casey, whom she started dating in 2017.

She says, “Rox wasn’t planned. The night I found out I was pregnant, I was in shock. I thought, ‘Am I ready for this? Am I going to be a good mam?’ But I was so excited. I was lucky – my pregnancy went well. We were just so looking forward to meeting him.

“We’re a different couple to how we were before,” she continues. “We knew we wanted to be together but we were quite casual. We’d go to the cinema or go for dinner. Now we’re both responsible for a little human!

“Of course we get stressed sometimes, especially when we’re sleep deprived, and we don’t have much time just the two of us – but having Rox has made our bond stronger. Having a baby is such a journey and it brings you closer together.”

MARRIAGE PLANS

Marnie hopes marriage is next on the cards for the pair. “I’m just waiting for him to ask me,” she laughs. “I’d want a tiny wedding, like 15 people, in Santorini [in Greece].

I’ve always liked the idea of a simple dress and being barefoot on the beach!”

And although she is besotted with Rox, the star insists another baby doesn’t figure in her plans any time soon, as she and Casey want to focus on enjoying their son.

“If I do have another one, I’d have a big gap, like five years,” she says. “I’d like the first five years of Rox’s life to be all about him. I want to go to Disneyland with him and put everything into his schooling. I want him to have all my attention. He’s changed my life so much, I just want to enjoy every moment.”
