Caprice: “I’m done with reality TV after a weasel leaked fake stories”

Former model Caprice Bourret opens up about her Dancing On Ice fallout, her catwalk days and finding love in her forties with husband Ty Comfort

She was once one of the most photographed women in the world, gracing over 300 magazine covers. Now a successful businesswoman, she also has her own range of swimwear, lingerie and homeware.

Yet despite topping several ‘sexiest women’ polls during her catwalk days, former model Caprice Bourret says she’s happier now, aged 48 and a mum of two.

She tells Closer, “I was wild in my younger years – I invented the word party! That was great when I was young, but the thought of bouncing off the chandeliers now makes me feel ill!

HAPPY AND GROUNDED

“I was also quite insecure when I was younger, but it’s now with kids and my work that I’m the happiest and most grounded. Yes, I’ve got a few wrinkles here and there, but I don’t care. And yes, we have to work harder to maintain our figure as we get older, but that makes me feel good.”

The 5ft7 mum of two shares her six-yearold sons, Jett and Jax, with businessman husband Ty Comfort. One of her sons was born by surrogate, although she has never revealed which of her children it was. She’s maintained her size 8 figure, which she puts down to good genetics and daily Barre classes – an exercise combining ballet-inspired moves with Pilates and strength training.

And to maintain her youthful looks, Caprice opts for a less-traditional method – called cryotherapy – which she believes helps her look her best. “I go for a daily ‘freeze’,” she laughs. “It’s literally a room with a big freezer, which you stand in for three minutes and freeze your ass off. It’s a whole body shock, but it can heal your muscles, invigorate your skin and boost your immune system.”

Caprice also lost over a stone by learning to ice skate for her appearance on Dancing On Ice earlier this year. However, she quit a few weeks into the dancing show amid an alleged fallout with her skating partner, Hamish Gaman, 36.

The reason behind their split has never been revealed, but Caprice claimed the show took its toll on her mental health. She slammed producers for not exercising a duty of care towards her, which they have strongly denied. Caprice was also hit by accusations of being “unprofessional” and acting like a “diva” backstage, but she tells Closer that isn’t true.

MOVING FORWARD

Although she refuses to give a reason for the row, she says, “I’m done with reality TV. I did Big Brother and The Jump and I loved it, but I’m done now. Whoever was leaking those fake stories about me being a diva... It was all bulls**t. I couldn’t say anything, though, because of my contractual obligations, so it was unfair and undermining.

“Only a weasel would do something like [leak fake stories], when they know I can’t answer back. But I always move forward – and I thank God I’m in such a good place now.”

In her heyday, Caprice was allegedly linked to a number of eligible batchelors, including rockers Rod Stewart and Fred Durst, as well as then-upcoming actor, Matthew McConaughey.

But in 2011, aged 40, she met husband Ty via mutual friends. The pair married and had children within months. Caprice says, “My advice is don’t ever compromise by thinking, ‘I’m at a certain age and should settle’, or, ‘I just don’t want to be by myself’. You will find The One eventually, so don’t waste your time with people who aren’t that.”

POSITIVE

And revealing the secret of how she bagged her dream man, she tells Closer, “I tell you what I did – and this is crazy, but it works – I got a piece of paper and wrote down every single adjective and noun that I wanted my perfect man, who I’d be with forever and ever, to have.

“I then put the list underneath my bed. I’d look at it and try to meditate, and be positive that I was going to meet this person, and after a year, I knew he was coming.”

She adds, “When I met Ty, it happened so fast, and after three months we were off having babies!”
