LISA: ‘With faith and with courage, we can shine’
Like Abby, Lisa Armstrong, 43, has found solace in supporting others through difficult times following her split from TV presenter Ant McPartlin. Talking about her new show, the make-up pro said, “Nobody is immune to insecurities! We all have issues that chip away at our confidence. Social media makes us hold ourselves to unrealistic standards.”
And according to The Updaters’ producers, she “goes the extra mile to make everyone feel special”, while Lisa explains on the makeover show that she hopes to show that with “faith and courage, we can all shine”.
Her confident approach comes two years after her split in the glare of the spotlight, after ex-husband Ant, 44, moved on with her former PA, Anne-Marie Corbett.
Despite being a former popstar – she met Ant when she was in ’90s band Deuce – Lisa has amassed a fanbase since their break-up due to her interaction with followers on Twitter. Her encouraging messages and support of her fans likely stem from her own painful experiences. Lisa was said to be “beyond devastated” when Ant ended their 12-year marriage in December 2017.
But in recent months, she appears to have turned a corner – with insiders telling Closer she played “peacemaker” during their divorce settlement in January, which reportedly saw her receive half of Ant’s £62million fortune and shared custody of their beloved Labrador Hurley.
Just last month, she further extended an olive branch by liking a tweet from Ant and Dec’s joint account, thanking the public for supporting Saturday Night Takeaway.
And friends say it’s because she has “found solace and new excitement in her career”. As well as The Updaters, she has launched a lipstick range with Avon and scooped Best Make-Up Design at the Royal Television Society Awards for her work on Strictly Come Dancing.
On top of that, she’s reportedly selling her and Ant’s £6million marital home and moving in with friends. A source says, “Being surrounded by such positive, loyal friends has lifted Lisa. She’s so in demand with work, too, and she has turned a corner and is embracing this new chapter and having fun.”
