‘I can really trust and depend on Sam’

-

She suffered yet more heartache last week after a judge extended her care manager’s legal rights over her until “at least” August – just months after her custody of her two sons was reduced to just 30 per cent.

But as Britney Spears, 38, endures yet another setback in her bid to regain independence – after her father, Jamie, 67, was first granted conservatorship of her, following her highlypublicised breakdown in 2008 – insiders say she’s credited her boyfriend of three and a half years, 26-year-old personal trainer Sam Asghari, for keeping her spirits up.

A source says, “Britney’s really upset. Although the news that the conservatorship has been extended has been a huge knock, particularly because of the coronavirus pandemic, she says Sam is helping her stay positive – being a constant and loyal shoulder to cry on, offering support and advice, and ensuring she eats well and keeps up with her exercise, which is vital to her mental wellbeing. He’s being her overall rock.”

In September, dad Jamie handed over the conservatorship to the star’s carer, Jodi Montgomery, amid health issues and an alleged altercation with Britney’s eldest son, Sean Preston, 13.

And four months earlier, her mum, Lynn – who split from Jamie in 2002 – asked for a judge to be informed on all matters relating to her medical care, amid her daughter’s latest stint in rehab to cope with her father’s ailing health.

Last month, the Toxic singer bizarrely told fans on Instagram that she had burnt down her home gym – later claiming it was a joke.

And pals say that, although Britney has been left knocked by the news – which comes after her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, was given 70 per cent custody of their sons, Sean and Jayden James, 12, in September, when it was previously 50/50 – it’s made her and Sam’s relationship even stronger.

The source adds, “Brit’s suffered repeated knocks throughout her career, but but she truly feels she can trust and depend on Sam, which has kept her spirits up even in her darkest moments.”

Last week, additional reports claimed Britney told a court last year that she wanted to have a baby with Sam, but her dad was against the idea.

But pals say she’s not going to give up on her dream. The source adds, “Brit would love to have a baby with Sam but she doesn’t want the drama, so they’re planning to start trying once the conservatorship is finally lifted.

“She’ll finally have control of her life back and can make the fresh start she’s been dreaming of for so long.”
