Lisa Snowdon: my day in style

The presenter, 48, shares the lowdown on her new daily routine with fiancé George Smart in their Essex home

of baking, I find it quite therapeutic. In moments when I’ve been really anxious and stressed – especially the first couple of weeks

[of lockdown] – I found being in the kitchen made a big difference.

I’ve just been using what I had in the house to avoid going to the shop, so I make things like oat flapjacks.

3PM – I’ve found it really satisfying going through my wardrobe and having a clear-out. I’ve got some huge dustbin liners ready for charity, and I’ve got another little bit for my sisters. I’ve had to shop in my own wardrobe, reminding myself what I’ve got and hanging things up properly. I try to do this one in, one out thing, which doesn’t work all the time, so it’s been good to have a clear-out.

4PM – I’ve definitely been munching my way through lockdown. Specifically Twiglets! I bought two big bags and I managed to devour them all myself. George was like, “Where are the Twiglets?” – I was just like, “They went weeks ago!”

5PM – We wind down in the evening by opening a bottle of wine. As soon as you open it you just feel like, “Ahh!”. I’ve been quite sociable during lockdown, like a pub quiz on House Party, and Zoom chats with my friends and family. It’s a nice extra excuse to get dressed up!

EVENING 6PM – Normally George and I take it in turns cooking dinner, but as he’s been so busy with work, I’ve been doing a lot more of it recently. I don’t mind, as I enjoy experimenting with whatever I’ve got in, making healthy, yummy meals out of stuff from the cupboard.

7PM – As soon as we’ve eaten, we’ll watch a comedy together like Curb Your Enthusiasm or a documentary. We saw Tiger King recently, which we did quite enjoy. It’s crazy – how are these people real? I’ve also been watching Ozark, which I love.

8PM – I like to have a bath at night occasionally. If I’m struggling to sleep, I use magnesium in it – it just really helps to de-stress, unwind, and it relaxes every muscle. I love putting on my pyjamas – my favourites were a gift from George – they’re from Liberty.

9:30PM – I like to get into bed early, start watching the news and be asleep not long after that. I use a jade roller on my face while I’m watching it. I find using pillow mists relaxing, too – the Tropic one is great.

?? ?? MORNING 6AM – I always wake up at 6am, and this hasn’t changed. Either George or I will get the teas in straight away. I like to start with a lukewarm water and lemon first thing, or if I’m really tired I’ll have a redbush tea.
6:30AM – I put on some leggings and a workout top and do some stretching or I’ll find a workout to do online – I’m even doing some classes on Zoom!
7:30AM – I jump in the shower. I’ve been using up products I already have, which is satisfying. I do a really long cleanse with my Emma Hardie cleansing balm, giving myself a really strong facial massage to get the blood flow going – I find it really wakes up my muscles and gives me nice rosy cheeks!
8:30AM – I’ve been making my own muesli, so I’ve been having that for breakfast with natural yoghurt and either grated apple or banana with cinnamon. It feels good to start your day with some goodness.
9AM – I’m still getting dressed and made-up every day. It’s so easy to just roll out of bed and be like, “Oh, I can’t be bothered,” but when I shower and get dressed, I feel so much better. I’m trying to wear more colour from my wardrobe and it’s really cheering me up. That’s something I’ve noticed is really good for my wellbeing and my mental health, just to make a bit of an effort in small ways.
10AM – Work-wise, I’ve been going live with ThisMorning over Skype, which is tricky because I’m a bit of a technophobe. At first it was so weird stacking my computer on top of books to get the right height and lighting – it’s a minefield! We’re doing different pieces with my fashion editor, topics like Dress Up Thursday, where we got the whole of the nation to send in pictures and videos of them looking fabulous in their front rooms. It was really uplifting and lovely.
11AM – I’ve started a new series on Instagram called Self Care Sundays – it’s all about taking the time out to pamper and treat yourself. So, during the week I’m researching and making notes on that. I’m also doing a lot of beauty treatments to prep for it. I’ve been doing a bit of fake tan – I’ve been using this amazing brand called Australian Glow – you get a colour within an hour, it’s really fast-drying and it’s a natural product.
12PM – I have still been doing a little bit of online shopping – but much less than usual, obviously. I did an order of loungewear from Hush – I bought a bright fuchsia top and some bottoms with rainbow detailing, which I love.
