He was a notorious ladies man before starting a family with Lauren Silverman. But last week, Simon Cowell was thrown into hot water, after an awkward video call with Amanda Holden left viewers speculating he and Lauren may have split up, with rumours previously emerging that she had accused him of having an affair with Mel B.
Simon’s long-time friend and fellow Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda, 49, was taking part in an Instagram Live chat with her followers, when she mentioned Simon and Lauren – and her eight-year-old daughter Hollie chimed in, saying, “I thought they broke up?” Amanda quickly responded, “Don’t be stupid” – but fans were left wondering whether there was something behind what Hollie had said.
Reports claimed that Lauren, 42, had become suspicious of Simon’s closeness with his former America’s Got Talent co-star Mel B and had confronted her in a series of angry messages.
But Amanda later claimed that Hollie had just been confused, and that Simon, 60, and Lauren were still very much an item – and a source close to Simon said the reports about Lauren’s upset over Mel were “total nonsense”.
Simon began dating Lauren in 2013, after years of being friends, and the pair welcomed son Eric on Valentine’s Day a year later. The pair are currently on lockdown in LA – and Simon previously credited both his relationship with Lauren and becoming a father with giving him a more fulfilled life. He said, “Eric is absolutely incredible and so funny. [Becoming a father] is the best thing that’s ever happened to me.” Simon’s spokesperson confirmed he and Lauren and still together.
