Gemma: ‘I’d love to have a baby in my 40s’
She’s long been open about her desire to have a baby, and now Gemma Collins has revealed she plans to fall pregnant next year.
The TOWIE star, 39, has said that, on doctor’s advice, she’s recently shed 3st in a bid to boost her fertility. She also suffers from polycystic ovaries, which gives sufferers a higher risk of pregnancy complications.
But Gemma is confident she’ll make her dream of becoming a mum a reality. She said, “I would love to have a child. It would be great for me and such a positive message for all the girls out there who don’t want to rush their life, or their life has taken a different direction. In my forties I’d love everybody to see The GC walking around with a pram.”
Her comments come after her on/off boyfriend James “Arg” Argent opened up about his recovery from a seven-year cocaine addiction, after going to rehab in Thailand. And Arg, 32, admitted he was now motivated to stay clean and healthy so he can start a family with Gemma.
Arg said, “I want to get married and have children. But I know if I was to relapse again, Gemma has made it clear to me that she’s done everything she possibly can. And you’ve got to remember that Gemma’s late thirties so she hasn’t got time to be mucking about any more.”
Arg and Gemma have dated on and off for years – with the pair finally giving their romance a real go in 2017, after Arg split from then-girlfriend Lydia Bright.
While they’ve had their dramas, Gemma has spoken about her desire to settle down with Arg, previously telling Closer, “I 100 per cent want children – I like the names Angel and Mimi for a girl, and Gucci and Bentley for a boy.”
Last month, Arg proved how strong the couple were when he credited Gemma with kick-starting his recovery, saying he was eternally grateful she stopped at nothing to get him help.
He revealed, “She gave me some tough love… Thank God, because if it wasn’t for Gemma calling the ambulances to my house, who knows what could have happened.”
