Lacking confidence in certain areas of your life? The tips you need to thrive could be very close to home, as Emma explains

Find a mentor to feel more capable

Human beings are often completely unaware of the vast potential they have, mostly because many of us underestimate ourselves. A key to beating that self-doubt is to find a mentor in your life to inspire you. In fact, find several who thrive in areas where you feel you require a little work. Begin by reflecting on people who have inspired you in the past. These may be teachers, siblings, friends, or colleagues. Ask yourself what made them stand out? What were their personality traits, how did they encourage you? This helps you to hone in on the type of person that gets the very best from you.

Next, start to look at people you respect and admire in your immediate circle. This may be a mum on your WhatsApp group who manages to keep everyone organised without being anything but kind, or you may have a colleague who has really come into their own during lockdown. Now reach out and ask them for some advice and tips. You may feel nervous, but it is a huge compliment to point out someone’s success and ask for some pointers. It should also set the scene for a deepening of connections. Human beings are tribal animals, and before society modernised, you would have been surrounded by lots of people with different skill sets. This would have led to you being able to use different people for advice when facing certain challenges, and is why we should all seek positive mentors in our worlds because, essentially, that is how we learn and grow.
