‘IT WASN’T THE EASY MONEY I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE’
Mum-of-four Effie Sampson, 31, a director of a sales company, lives in Lancashire.
She has four children, Nicole, 14, Dylan,
12, Logan, five, and Dexter, three. She says, “During lockdown, I was furloughed from my sales job and searching for ways to make some extra money. A friend on Facebook had been doing OnlyFans and she was really positive about it. So, I discussed it with my girlfriend Jenna, who was fine about it – and even volunteered to take the photographs! In May, I signed up and in the first few weeks made £200, which helped to make up the shortfall in my wages and pay the bills. But then my subscribers started becoming demanding, asking for new pictures in different sexy outfits and poses. I didn’t like being told what to do – it made me feel like a sex worker and I hated the pressure. I also felt uncomfortable replying to private messages – I didn’t want to get sexual, as it felt dirty.
“It wasn’t the easy money I thought it would be. I’m confident, but can see how more vulnerable people could easily forget about the boundaries and limits they’ve set once the money and compliments flood in. It could get very seedy.
“It’s also a lot more work than you might think. You need to constantly post new content and it took days to do a decent shoot with lots of looks.
“I’m now back in work full-time so am winding down my account. I’d warn other women that it’s not such an easy money earner – you could come to regret being on there.”
