Christine Lampard, 41, who’s very excited to be filling in for ‘Boss Lady’ Lorraine Kelly on ITV’s Lorraine show for the summer holidays…

How are you coping with changes in the studio?

I’ve been lucky because I’ve been on Loose Women throughout all of this.

All of our guests are ‘down the line’ [on video calls]. The mad set up is strange, but actually you adapt very quickly – and it’s fascinating seeing people in their own environments.

What’s lockdown been like?

For me, not being able to see family has been the worst aspect of it. I normally like to try to get home [to Ireland] once a month, or they come over to see me.

But obviously, that’s not been possible. I’ve now seen them again and it was emotional. When you have a little one, you appreciate the relationship they have with their grandparents.

Is Patricia [who turns two in September] OK with you doing Lorraine every day?

The timings mean I’m only really missing her breakfast, which Frank is doing. I’m back early and I’m still able to put her down for her nap and spend the rest of the day with her – and put her to bed in the night time. I don’t think she’ll miss me that much, thankfully. She’s at that age when it’s still very manageable as there’s no having to drop her off at school.

Did you dash straight to a hair salon when they reopened?

I haven’t been to one yet! I’ve actually enjoyed just letting my hair grow. I have missed getting a blow dry, as that’s my favourite thing, and I’d really like to get my nails done... As for getting it coloured, I get the odd grey hair and I’ll get rid of it but I haven’t had to dye all the roots.

Your thoughts on presenting Lorraine?

Lorraine is a complete stalwart of TV – she’s the Boss Lady. It means a great deal to me that she thinks I’m up to scratch!
